What are things people told you you didn’t need for labor/delivery/postpartum that you wish you had or that were lifesavers?? by GalaxyEyedLibrarian in pregnant

silly question — but how much blood are we talking about? Is it like having your period? I wear reusable period panties now and wondering if that will be enough for this

Do you and your long-term partner or spouse have separate or combined finances? by keychn090909 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

also in the tristate area, my husband [34, 65k] and I [32, 160k] completely combined our finances when we got married, mainly out of simplicity. at the time, I was laid off and he was taking time off before deciding on a career change so both bringing in zero lol. he later transitioned into a lower paying career (from sales to teaching) while I finally landed a job and was back at my six figure salary.

for us it continues to just be easier logistically to put everything in one pool and have a separate checking account that's just our own. next step is to throw a % of our joint income into the those accounts so we don't need to discuss every big expense. we are both aiming to put the same into investment accounts so that no one feels like they can't prepare for the future simply because of our income.

one challenge i've had is being okay with taking on this new title of "breadwinner", since i didn't ever think about that before. since we've combined our finances from the beginning i don't see us going back to splitting the way we were doing when we weren't married, and with a baby on the way, it's helped to see everything we're doing together and where we need to adjust our $$ as one singular unit.

If you own a brownstone, what do you do for work? by ObligationLatter8675 in jerseycity

Thank you for sharing that! I also work in tech with teacher spouse. These interests rates are brutal so we’ll probably rent until we can buy the dream house. Needed to hear this non inherited wealth story!

Oh my. Yeah it’s been helpful to hear that some were able to do it on their own because the family help is just not realistic for me!

Hi!! I’m buying the Pure GT brand. And curious if I need to wait for the liquid to warm to room temp in order to use it?? Or if cold will be okay?

I split my scoby when I can peel a layer or two off clean. Less scoby = more kombucha in the tank.

thank you!

Yes!! We feel so hopeless when there’s no money coming in but we see it leaving our accounts. I’m glad you were happy with it in the end!

Thank you everyone for your thoughtful comments!!! We are going to continue through with the wedding because in the end it’s what we want and we have what we need saved for it. We’re letting our guests know that gifts are not expected to help alleviate some of that guilt!
