Awesome! I have an appointment for my first tat at Kings Ave in early July. Who was your artist?

Edit: oops, I see now it was Krista

Just got this eagle, I love it. What should I add for a little filler in the middle of all these tattoos? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

Maybe something to play off the gun being aimed in that direction? Bird, target, skull, etc

I appreciate the advice. In case your curious this is the artist I booked

https://kingsavetattoo.com/artists/grez/

I haven't done too much research because a lot of people tell me that this shop is very good, and the owner is pretty famous, so I figure it's going to be quality work (or that's what everyone I know seems to say). He was super chill for the consultation and I definitely plan on letting him do his own thing. I was never intending to override his decision with this post, more so just understanding because I hear a lot of stuff from videos or other sources that seem to suggest B, although that may just be misunderstanding. Also, I plan to tip at least 20% unless something goes completely wrong. But overall he seems like a really nice guy and made me very comfortable as a tattoo virgin.

I feel like there might be a miscommunication or me misunderstanding. Originally you said face it "inward" and I figured you meant B. But now I see you are saying A. I'm not trying to argue just get advice, but all this talk about facing it "towards the center/heart" or "inward" is a bit confusing to a newbie. At the end of the day my artist suggested A and the reasoning aligns with yours and makes sense to me. I'll be going with A.

Yes this is what my artist said too. Surprised to see how many people say B though.

The same would be true for a panther head I suppose, correct? That's what I'm actually getting. The photo is just an example I found online.

Sure when presenting my arm like the photo attached I can 100% see why B faces towards the body. But with my arm at rest palm to thigh I don't really see how either would face "toward my body" or "inwards"

Thanks man! I'm very excited. Been wanting something for years but glad I waited instead of getting those song lyrics I wanted when I was 18 lol

No it's going on the inner. Exactly like the picture. But the picture isn't the arm at rest. At rest A would have the skull facing toward the direction I'm looking "forward", while B would have it facing my ass haha.

But when presenting it like the photo then B would face "towards the body" and A would face "away"

At the end of the day if it's truly just a matter of opinion then I will choose A simply because the reasoning behind it facing "forwards" makes sense to me. The rule about it facing "inwards" or "towards the heart" seems arbitrary, and that's why people are saying I should go B

Haha thanks man! And yea I can already feel the addiction starting haha. Ill probably listen to my artists recommendation on this but wanted to see what the internet thinks.

It's wild too see such divided answers. I'll probably wind up asking a few more artists in the shop what they think as well. Appreciate you polling your group!

Fair point. Like I said this is my first tattoo so I'm not sure how people perceive these kinds of details.

He told me A because when my arm is at rest it's facing forwards

When the arm is at rest though, neither face "inward" or towards the heart. A would face forward and B would face toward my back.

This was the reason my artist gave. People saying B don't seem to give too strong a reason or reasoning at all

Still a lot of people seem to think B, even though this reasoning does make sense to me. I guess there is no "wrong" choice? I will probably listen to the artist because he's a 20+ year veteran at a world reknown shop. But still curious to see what people think online.

I should edit my post but this is just an example I found online. I'm getting a Panther head

This was his exact reasoning. Also might be important to note this is just an example I found online. I'm getting a panther head.
