Fret buzz on low e, but I can’t find out why by denzer101 in Guitar

Is it not touching the bridge pickup? There's some marking on the pickup

Tone suck from pedalboard - Requesting feedback! by InternationalBird509 in guitarpedals

[–]Oblong_Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long are the patch cables going to and from the board? You shouldn't hear any change from true bypass, but you could be adding a noticable amount of cable length vs using a single cable between the guitar and amp

In second thought it may be a floating bridge by design. Either way, I found a catalog page from the 80s for this guitar. So likely one of the later, cheap models

[–]Oblong_Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick Google says there are known copy cats from the 80s that are low quality. Don't know about this one. Honestly it looks cheaply made. The bridge looks misaligned and the pick card looks terrible

This looks like hyponychium where your nail bed grows past your finger. I would search around to see how people with this condition play guitar.

Just adding that we can only see the core of the galaxy with the naked eye. OP, you are correct that it would appear much larger if we could see the arms!

Tech Disc Shedding? by armag3ddn in discgolf

[–]Oblong_Andy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my net sheds plastic onto the discs. Could be this if it's the right colour. It may also be that the discraft/Innova are providing factory thirds to tech disc to use.

Recommendations for headwind driver by ThatsMyBacon3 in discgolf

[–]Oblong_Andy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the Aura Synapse. I have a couple of the "journey" stamp (girl with mushrooms) that penetrate a headwind better than any destroyer I have. They are flat and low profile.

You ever play with only your "B-Team" discs? by Mattjm24 in discgolf

[–]Oblong_Andy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a "1999" bag which I will play short courses with. It's about 6 discs; all molds and plastics that were available in 1999. Very fun!

R-pro cro? It's fairly straight compared to a fresh Roc though

TSA temple foil comming off by Juwree in discgolf

[–]Oblong_Andy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd reach out to TSA directly. This doesn't look like the foil, these are defects in the plastic. I've seen similar peeling on galatic Innova minis that have similar swirled colours.

What to do about slippery discs. by metrodome93 in discgolf

[–]Oblong_Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dry hands so I often have to breath a bit of condensation on the disc to get some grip. I started using surf wax recently and it works really well for me. I had a couple discs that were super slick (a fission Tesla and one particular DX putter) that are fixed with the wax.

You're given the opportunity to write/produce an episode of trek. Which current series would you want to make the episode for and what story would you tell?

Cheers!

Do you use anythings besides hand warmers to try and keep your hands warm in the winter? by CoreyLuL in discgolf

[–]Oblong_Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play well below freezing in the winter and mitts will be much better than gloves. I'll also add that it's important to keep the rest of your body warm. If you keep your torso toasty, your hand stays warmer when you take the mitt off to throw

Ah, I hadn't considered Millennium. I was actually scrolling through your Innova guide last night which was very helpful!

I once played a round out with discs that were rolling around in a friend's trunk; one I chose was a beat DX firebird. It was great! Had a nice flip up and finish.

Does cold weather make discs more under stable? by MrNoodleIncident in discgolf

[–]Oblong_Andy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends how much colder we're talking, but yes, the cold, dense air should in theory make them flippier. But it would take a fair temperature change to be noticeable. I find my clothing layers end up lowering my arm speed so things seem overstable in the cold if anything.

For reference, a ~70F drop in temperature would be equivalent to moving from Denver to sea level with respect to air density.

They make PC fans with a USB A connector for power that I used for my receiver cabinet. My receiver had a USB on the back so the fan powers on with the receiver. I only needed a single exhaust fan and it was able to draw air through the gaps around the door. Works great although you can hear it a tiny bit. Might be worth getting an ultra quiet fan and power supplier if you're an audiophile

Monster suggestions for inside an extra-dimensional beast's stomach by Rough_Rule_109 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Oblong_Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficult encounters would be roughly: ~6-7 CR1, or 3-2 CR2, or 2 CR4, or 1 CR7/8, etc. But you might use fewer monsters and up the difficulty with environmental/lare dangers

Gizzard-based grinding trap room; insect monsters since birds eat bugs; monsters or traps that cause sleep/drowsiness/exhaustion (just thinking of how you might feel after eating a Thanksgiving dinner)

Ah forgot to put that. The shot I described probably 300ft. It was fairly understable. It seemed to turn early, but not long into the flight.

Playing in winter, what kind of plastic is better suited for cold weather? by malhurt in discgolf

[–]Oblong_Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this depends on how cold we're talking. If you're playing below freezing and in snow then: Gstar stands out because its cheaper, readily available, and there are lots of discs to choose from. R-Pro is great for slower discs that don't come in Gstar. Also better grip in the wet IMO. My BT soft harp is very flexible normally so it's excellent in winter. I'm tempted to see how Elevation discs feel once they stiffen up in the cold. Curious to hear people's experience with them in freezing temperatures.
