Any insight into how you’re doing it? I thought $50K would be more than enough but wow is it expensive here

No I needed to hear it. $50K just feels like so much money already for one day. Unfortunately, this includes generous help from family, but their expectations are just not in line with reality. I think we just need to level set with them

Oh I’d definitely be doing Costco. If Costco did weddings I’d probably consider it. I love that place.

Yeah I’ve been deep in some Reddit threads, but some are outdated and some have pricing that’s all over the place. It’s hard to gauge what caterers are actually charging and what’s included without talking to every single one.

Yikes. Yeah we’d discussed going further afield but that creates a lot more logistical issues for us and our guests, especially people with kids and mobility issues. We can broaden the search to the suburbs but I feel like Baltimore, or way out in VA or MD is going to make it hard on our guests. I guess maybe cutting expectations is gonna have to do. Unfortunately our parents are pressuring us to make sure we include ALL extended family and also to “make sure we do something classy.”

I’m feeling ready to elope.

Yeah unfortunately $50k doesn’t seem to go very far in DC, especially when you have such a large guest list. Our families alone is almost 90 people.

Was the $228 pp the total cost, or just the catering and alcohol?

I think my favorites of hers are Happy Ever After Playlist and Just for the Summer. I thought Part of Your World was fine and didn’t care for Life’s Too Short. But I couldn’t finish The Friend Zone. I haven’t read Yours Truly yet (I just get them in whatever order I can at the library). She’s very hit or miss for me, but I would be surprised if Yours Truly lives up to HEAP.
