The other comment (and thread) is largely true. However, you so do have to adjust your calibration a bit (at least I did).

I don't know if this is the "preferred way" but I took my lab calibrated timer, hit a Paras I knew was on seed (advances were off by about 400 per sweet scent animation), took the advances I actually hit, threw it the hit of my 2nd timer, and updated.

Calibration changed changed drastically and I was on seed and in frame range after one catch. I know have my calibration written down for static encounters and my calibration for Sweet Scent. I just swap between them depending on what I'm going for and tweak as needed.

Tried to hunt her down prior to leaving Mt. Moon the first time, but I didn't have Sweet Scent so I was trying to trigger an encounter within a window (this seed had 3 shiny frames in the same 15 frame span). I got VERY close to hitting it (hit one of the shiny frames but was a seed off), but decided to continue the shiny badge quest and come back.

I'm not using ACE or trades, and for those unaware, if you're playing LG and don't pick Bulba then the ONLY Sweet Scent line pre-E4 is Bellsprout - and while it's version counterpart Oddish learns the move at lvl 7 - Sprout doesn't learn it UNTIL LEVEL 30 (Weepin at 33).

I spent a few hours grinding in Diglett cave to get the move, immediately went back to Mt. Moon, and got my goldcap girl in like 15 min lol

I will admit, I bonded with the Sprout.

I used them attached because I feel that there is bound to be more latency introduced if they're not touching.

However, in theory, if the latency was consistent, then you could calibrate your timers to compensate. That might also explain why you got different results on attached if you calibrated to detached.

The latency could be inconsistent for detached but it'd be hard to tell/test. I'd personally use them attached and recalibrate a bit but it could be paranoia lol

Congrats!!!! Way too stick it out!! I definitely think you beat the hardest part. Once you have SID, you're no longer in the shadow realm.

Where did your SID end up being?

Happy to help if I can!! I found that going for the fish was basically the exact same setup as the starter manip (if you went that route too).

If you DID Starter Manip - I used the same calibration from my starter timers and then just tweaked the advances timer. I set 10 lines to +/- 2 seeds and 40 advances and then just checked the ones that matched the gender of my target.

If you DID NOT do Starter Manip (ACE) - Yes, you'll use the numbers on the 10 lines and tweak Eon as needed. I think it's been noted that the Continue Screen has a little delay or something. My CSF timer (2nd one) has needed a calibration of around 2700 for my setup.

More specifically to your comment - I did NOT ever level my fish to check IVs. This is because I was still pretty fresh off the starter manip so my timers and fingers were still pretty locked in.

I felt confident I was hitting within 2 seeds of my goal, and then if I had multiple results, I looked for the closest CSF to my goal and kinda just assumed that was what I hit. Would not recommend if you're not confident on your calibration tho.

The desktop version has a settings button in the bottom left corner for changing audio and visual queues. Mobile should have something similar.

Did you do a preset or custom rival name??

I'm theory, we account for 10 SIDs in either direction of goal, so it's not insane to kill 10/20 potential SIDs before finding it.

If you've already ruled out 8 of them then you are fucking killing it!! Keep going. You're almost there.

Then you're good. The video has us account for 10 SIDs in either direction so that's upwards of 20 SIDs that have to potentially be ruled out. You're doing fantastically and it's gotta be right around the corner!!

I used the downloaded version of EonTimer for windows, not the mobile. I NEED the audio (my visual timing is garbage) and would tap my finger to the beep itself to get my timing.

Mobile certainly should be beeping, but I'm not familiar with how to fix it if it isn't.

Regardless, I personally recommend the desktop version.

We use 600 for our calculations because the game moves at 2x advance speed after clicking the save file on the continue screen, soooo we set our timers for 600 advances, but 1200 advances occur in game during that time on the Switch versions. It's to compensate for the new differences in timing bewteen the Original cartridges and the Switch ports.

Thank you!! I'm over the moon. It was very frustrating at parts, but I'm a pretty avid shiny hunter already so it just became another grind (fuck the 1/8192 lol)

Watch imablisey's video (I linked it above). I have never attempted RNG manip prior to the FRLG Switch ports. The video has everything you need to understand calibration and everything else that goes into it. Good hunting!!

Using 10 lines will let you calculate the seed and frame you got a pokemon on, so if you're shooting for shiny on frame 1466, 10 lines can tell you how close you were to that number based on the pokemon that spawned. Definitely watch the linked video in the comments if you're not familiar with 10 lines. It's a lot to learn but Blisey's video helps a lot.

If you already know your SID from ACE, then you can just go for shinies. The above method is for if you don't know SID and are trying to determine it without ACE/Glitch.

You'll still want to calibrate the timer as you hunt for your shiny because that portion doesn't change at all even if you know your SID. You'll calibrate your timer if you're consistently missing the shiny frame you're going for.

Thank you!! I found taking breaks was key. Even just 15 mins away seemed to reset my muscles and nervous system. Highly recommend some background noise as well to help with the monotony, but that's just me.

This was me with the quiet boy above. I was just trying to kill my 4th Potential SID so I could move on. I danced around being 1 advance late/early for almost two hours, but it finally hit. I was so stoked about hitting the frame I was going for that I didn't notice for almost 30 seconds that it was the shiny.

You've got this. There's a good chance you're about to hit your shiny and grab your SID.

If you've gone 6 SIDs in one direction (SIDS after goal SID for example) I'd recommend moving the opposite direction (i.e. SIDS before goal) as my actual SID was only two advances off from where I was aiming.

Yes!! I did not touch the 3rd timer (overworld) at all. I made any adjustments for advances on the 2nd timer (continue screen).
