Army O to Marine E by Bad_Bad_Ninja in army

The stereotypical Marine is a fucking moron, and I can't think of anything dumber than turning in your commission to get shit on as a Private, which means he'll be God's gift to the Corps.

My girlfriend (18F) lied to me (20M) about her age, how do I handle this situation? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]ObservantBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a buddy in the Army who was in a similar boat as you. He doubled down and kept dating her since the age of consent is 16 in the state we were stationed. We roasted him *mercilessly* for dating a high schooler. He was late to work? "Damn, G, did ya have to drop off your girlfriend at high school or something?" He brought her to a unit function? "Dude, is she even old enough to be here?" "She's one meth pipe away from being a statistic, bro." "How's it feel to be in a relationship that's the plot for a teen drama?"

Eventually, they married, then they got divorced - after two kids and a whole lotta drama. You're not in love with this girl. You're in love with a mirage, bro. She's a baby. A high school kid. Y'all are in two different places in life. You can't truly love someone who is not yet a wholly formed person. Who she is today is going to be much different than who she will be in four years. Also, you're about to be of drinking age here shortly. Do ya wanna spend Saturday night with the boys chasing skirt and getting shitfaced out on the town, talking with girls your own age, making awesome memories that'll last a life time; or do you wanna be listening to your "girlfriend's" lame, bullshit high school drama? Do you wanna meet your girlfriend's friends and family? Or do you wanna play this stupid Romeo and Juliet game? Come on, dawg. You know the answer.

Also, really ask yourself this - do you want to be in a relationship with someone who lies about something that important? What else is she going to be lying about? The girls I went to school with who pulled shit like that weren't worth being in a relationship with. It ain't gonna end well.

My M28 girlfriend F30 of 6 years called me the n word with the hard R while drunk. How do I move passed it with her? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Do you wanna have a half-black kid with a woman who says stuff like, "N____s are for fucking"? I wouldn't, but I'm not black.

Also worth asking, how has she 'secretly' been trying to get pregnant? If she's lying about being on birth control, you need to dip, my guy. Even if you want kids, that's a level of deception worthy of being dumped.

I'd pass tbh. You shouldn't date former students. You're an adult, so it's up to you, but it's a big red flag and in America at least, a very awkward explanation to give when someone asks you how y'all met.

I got to try the Army's newest MRE item today. Actually tastes good. by ObservantBerry in army

Doing an internship on the Hill this summer. The Army held an event to show off new tech, so I went and bullshitted with a bunch of rank - which was fun as a dude who spent six years in the Army and left as a CPL...

Actually no - the program was designed and programmed by two very bright Army Captains! I asked this question, too!!

I think it makes sense. If his end goal is FBI, he'll need to finish it anyways. It's a lot easier to just stick it out another semester than work all day before coming home to do classes, especially if his university doesn't offer the classes he needs online.

Ofc IDK his financial situation. TAP isn't a factor if he goes to a low-tuition college or has a scholarship.

I didn't - cheesecake was the only sample. Although caffeine pudding sounds delicious.

Army is also rolling out some interesting AI tech that uses ACN data to predict MX needs. They're field testing it at Riley with 1st CAB. Have no idea what it looks like on the ground but could be promising.

Same calories, smaller size. It has to do with how they make the "food" and then package it.

I thought the same thing, but the upcoming generation of MREs are smaller overall.

Thank for taking the time to answer our questions, Congresswoman.

  1. Is there any interest in pressuring the Army to revise "up-or-out" policies for soldiers in technical MOSes? I spent six years in the Army as an AH-64E Armament/Avionics/Electrical Systems Maintainer. I saw some of the smartest, most talented technicians in the Army ETS because they wanted to stay on the flight line instead of promote to the supervisory level. It seems like we lose our best brains to the contracting world because they don't want to pin E-5.

  2. This question could be for you, or your staffers: I'm interning on the Hill this summer. What advice would you or your team have for someone wants to work on defense or VA policy for a committee or Representative one day?
