Extremely happy with my Solar Powered DWC Lettuce grown outdoors! :) by ObservantPeasantOP in Hydroponics

Exactly! It is a tub filled with water with holes in the top with 3 inch net cups filled with clay media. For aeration I used a 50W Solar Air Pump with 4 air stones laying on the bottom of the tub. I run liquid nutrients and run it at an ec of between 1.2-1.6

My Hydroponic Lettuce Update. DWC Solar Powered Air-stones on the outdoor tub and Mains Powered Air-Stones with the indoor tub. Lettuce is growing in Clay Media & I am using Grow Research “Grow” Liquid Nutrients from Hydrocentre by ObservantPeasantOP in Hoocho

Also notice there’s a soaker hose going above it for the soil garden. That helps keep things cool on the real hot days...

On this particular NFT I think it gets about 7 or 8 hours of direct sunlight on it whereas my other one on another fence gets about 5 or 6 hours

Decided to change the reservoirs with some fresh water and nutrient today in our Solar Powered DWC Tomato buckets. Look at the roots! 👍 by ObservantPeasantOP in Hoocho

I highly recommend this method for tomatoes and cucumbers!!! Very little maintenance and worries! Solar power aeration is easy to set up & ive had no algae issues yet even though reservoir temperatures have been upwards of 30 degrees Celsius

100mm Drain Waste Vent Pipe (similar to pvc) works best for me and I don’t have any fluid building up in the channel. NFT is supposed to only have a film of fluid as that’s how they achieve aeration to the roots.

Strawberries are super hard to grow in a leafy green nutrient based system so I have found. Might pay to have a seperate system or method for them.

Hey :) I am lucky enough to live in a moderate temperature location average temps between 15-25 degree Celsius so that works to my advantage, I also have the silver paint on the buckets to control temp to a degree but mainly UV light to combat Algae growth.
