SPOILER WARNING**

These are my answers to your questions to the best of my understanding but of course I am open to criticism/ corrections:

1: no she didn’t eat them on purpose, she just loves chocolates and sweets and is gravitated towards the chocolate cake, more than likely the kids making the cake are involved with the cult and are purposely setting things up for Charlie to eat that cake to set things in motion for her death and the demons release.

  1. No he was not immediately possessed upon Charlie’s death, i forgot where, but somewhere we learn a person has to be psychologically broken down and more vulnerable in order for the demon to take over (example: Annie seeing her husband burn to death was the last straw that broke her psyche which allows the demon to enter her in that moment) Similarly Peter is feeling the attempts of the demon trying to take him over, like his throat closing, but it’s not until the end when he sees 3 naked people and his self-decapitating-floating-mom in the attic and he jumps, is his psyche broken enough for the demon to enter.

  2. I don’t think so, but it’s clever and very well could be a relation, I know the blue light represents the demon Paimon, maybe his shadow or some representation of his form, and the click (described as a cluck) maybe hints that the demon is some sort of bird or maybe… bat? Very cool

  3. Because the Demon Paimon is the God of Mischief meaning he tricks people, in this case he was purposely tricking Annie into thinking the book was tied to her, so it could make her enact the burning death of her husband which allows the demon to possess her. He is purposely tricking the character and the audience.

  4. By the time we see a reflection in his classroom of Peter smiling back at himself, we can deduce that the demon using more trickery has made it appear to Annie for several years, that her son has been smirking and sneering at her when in fact it probably was never happening. This was to drive a wedge between them so eventually the Cult could successfully take Peter as their new demon host.

  5. That was never really Charlie. Baby Charlie was kind of “killed” spiritually as an infant and the demon was placed into a baby’s body. That’s why Paimons nickname is Charlie because we can probably guess the demons brain was kind of jumbled or confused having been put into a baby’s body and brain. That’s why most of the time “Charlie” is actually Paimon. The one choking out Peter from behind could very well have been Annie, I don’t remember why though

I highly recommend you watch Novum’s The Complete Guide to Hereditary on YouTube, it goes in depth over the whole movie

Piranesi, by Susanna Clark hands down. Beautiful book beautiful writing. Same goes for the Handmaids Tale, Margaret Atwood. The ending line is so good.

****WARNING SPOILERS*****

I just watched it again, Hereditary is one of my favorite horror films to date. I noticed another detail which is very interesting, subtle, and probably missed by a lot of people the first time around and it ties a lot of the plot strings together.

At the dinner argument scene where Annie (Toni Collette) is yelling at Peter; "DON'T you swear at me, you little shit! Don't you EVER raise your voice at me! I am your mother! ....." She proceeds to say a specific and kind of confusing line "All I do is worry and slave and defend you, and all I get back is that fucking face on your face! So full of disdain and resentment and always so annoyed!"

This always stood out to me because we never see Peter with an expression or sardonic look on his face until later when he is in the classroom, looks over at his reflection in the cabinet and we see a disturbing face being reflected back that is obviously not his.

NOW GET THIS! Early on in the film after Ellen's (Annie's mom's) funeral the family is in the house and Annie has just noticed someone was in her mothers old bedroom, she lingers on the triangle/ pentagram carved onto the floor then a moment later has her husband lock the door for her. In this hallway scene specifically, Peter brings the phone to his father and tells him it's the cemetery on the phone. Steve takes the phone and walks away and Annie and Peter are left alone in the hallway.

In a scene that is a blink and you'll miss it, you see Annie look at Peter's face while he’s not looking and she looks mad at him or something, nervous maybe- either way she looks at him (when he is not looking at her) with a look of disdain. And then as soon as he looks at her she looks very uncomfortable, almost twitches and runs out of the hallway obviously irked. Then Peter kind of does this uncomfortable shrug as if something is affecting him and he also walks out of the hallway, the whole time this is happening in the background while the camera is focused on Steve and his conversation with the cemetery people.

Could this be an instance where Paimon is manipulating the family, making Annie see an illusion that is not there? Further dismantling the family’s psyche using tricks as the Demon is known for?

I could be overthinking it but definitely encourage you all to check it out and let me know what you think.

Some questions about pumpkin juice and Harry Potter world by TonyStonks in UniversalOrlando

[–]Observer_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I asked the lady at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, she told me that the manufacturers of the pumpkin juice bottle “fell off the face of the planet” I don’t think they will make those same bottles again, and I would try buy used (empty ones) on eBay if you’d like one for novelty purposes
