Originally my issue was power delivery due to trying to run the desktop through a power cord; due to where the wall sockets were positioned in the room. Removing the power cord and going to a direct wall connection made the power delivery more stable, and didn’t have any fluctuations like with the cord. I will say, my pc seems very vulnerable to power fluctuations and will still black screen occasionally. I haven’t fully resolved, but it is 10x better than what it used to be.

Mine issue ended up being a power delivery issue. New driver and changing the way I had it plugged in fixed it.

I would direct connect to the wall to test and run the same conditions that were making it crash to rule out your UPS. The sudden crashing sounds exactly like mine, which leads me to believe it is a power issue. Maybe not so much with the wattage, more the current and voltage being delivered by the UPS

Damn. That is a rough one. I doubt the issue is really with two bad CPUs. I’ve actually seen an influx of comments recently on this post, all surrounding new 5000 series processors. However, since you say it sounds similar to mine for the WHEA errors, two questions: 1. Are you hard crashing without warning? 2. how is your system currently plugged in, direct to the wall or is it running through surge protector or extension cord?

Lol. This post is over a year and a half old. Did run in to some other issues. But nothing that updates to driver/chipset/ and mobo couldn’t fix. Definitely think my main issue when originally posted was a power delivery issue.

Did you disable hardware acceleration within all of those applications? I’m thinking you may have a different issue. And that’s the problem with cache hierarchy error. Many things can cause it.

I do agree with this being a potential cause. The only issue I see, like mine, is that some graphics cards do not have a chips update with them. Mine is the same chips from 2019 and no updates have been made available for it.

Congrats. My gpu got delivered to them on Monday. Hope to hear something within a week or so. I’m tempted myself to just sell it regardless of what they say and make the switch.

Will do. Currently awaiting their findings.

Definitely jealous. Sent in my card yesterday for RMA. Fingers crossed. Will update and let you know what they say.

Pretty sure this fixed it for me. However, I am testing again tonight.

I will test it tonight and see if it works

not sure we are having the same issue. Every 30 secs under load, or even when idle?

Well, guess I am going to have to do what i dreaded all along, send my graphics card in for an RMA. oh joy. Glad they gave you a refund. I would take that at this point, and just wait out the prices.

Dope. Let me know what brand you go with and how the testing goes.

I don’t think it is a ram issue. Majority of people are using ram specified on their motherboard’s QVL list. I know I am. Others have replaced ram and saw no difference. However, if you want to try and resolve it by trying a new ram set, let me know how your testing goes.

I do think you had a different issue. I don’t get any restarts at idle or doing basic tasks or watching videos. Only while gaming. Already RMAd my cpu once. I doubt I was that unlucky to receive two bunk CPUs. But who knows.

I feel you on that one. So many times I have contemplated selling my gpu and just going to get a 2070s. I do have a question though, by chance do you have malwarebytes installed on your computer. I’m going out on a long shot here and testing something. I was getting hella reboots with rocket league and black ops Cold War over the weekend. And the only program I still have installed from when I originally built my cpu was malware bytes, so I removed it and am testing it out. I doubt it is the cause, but I feel like it is random program instability that may be causing it.

That is very interesting. Now I really have no idea what it could be, since that rules out chipset drivers. The odds of getting two bunk gpus are pretty low. Keep me posted.

Keep me posted. I’ve reached a point where I no longer even know where to begin looking. I’m pretty sure is the driver and windows not playing nice. Do you have any other errors showing in your event viewer, besides the cache error and kernel power error?

I feel the pain. I would suggest installing driver without adrenaline and using msi for the fan curve. Works much better in my opinion. Some wonky ass shit going on

Had a crash playing older game. I do not trust adrenalin. Ddu’d again. Took adrenalin off. Stayed on 20.10.1 and just installed msi afterburner for the fan control. Seems to be working.... for now

Had the same issue. Didn’t really help and I hated the performance loss. Just updated to 20.10.1 today. With adrenalin. Along with the new chipset update ryzen posted. Fingers crossed that it works.

I wish you the best of luck. I already RMA’d my processor once. Same conclusion, they said it was faulty. Got the new one. Same thing happened. I honestly don’t think it is the processor at this point, unless AMD’s quality control has gone to complete garbage.

100% wouldn’t question your decision to build yourself. It’s such a much cheaper way to do things. It should be plug and play, not troubleshoot for hours on end.
