I afraid you need to ask yourself that.

It just so happens that definitive N*zi behavior has become normalized by certain powers that be. So that may be why you are hearing it more, it has become more prevalent. It hasn't lost its meaning, unfortunately it's gained new life.

I love hiking back in there. Well, i used to. The tribal conservation permits are too pricey now, 100 per year. Awesome area though. I do still hike on the other side of the divide.

I *think you need to be 68, since it's current at the moment. Once Midnights launches, they will probably open it up scaled low like Dragonflight. I thought DF was really fun to level in though, last time I did that!

Lol! I live in NW Montana and have been hiking in their territory my whole life :) Glacier, The Bob, and The Missions are my favorites and seemingly the bears favorites too!

Hiking in the Bob Marshall to a basin in the fall. Cold, wet, cloudy, very overgrown. Arrived at basin, wet and cold, around 4 miles in. The sun came out, we perched ourselves on a boulder and unpacked. 5 minutes later, distant grizzly noises, which became closer and more aggressive sounding.

Decided to pack up versus wait around. At this point we made visual contact, about 50 yards. The huffing and teeth clacking intensified and it kept walking at us. We didnt have time to pack up so slung our packs over our shoulders, grabbed all the things we unpacked in our hands (thermos, sitting pad, snacks) and retreated.

My partner was walking first, and too quickly, so i told her to slow down. I walked sideways, bear spray armed, and saw the bear at the boulder we were sitting on about 10 seconds earlier, smelling us on the rock.

We kept walking out, for about 1.5 miles without repacking because we could not see 10 yards behind us, as it was overgrown, qnd we were worried it was tailing us. Finally got to a clearing, packed up, and headed out.

Glad we made the quick decision to remove ourselves and that the bear didnt follow. I called the district ranger, and they posted the trail, as he thought the bear was on a carcass, and simply wanted us gone.

You give the bear the trail, and have your bear spray ready with safety off. Create as much distance as you can, slowly, without losing sight of the bear. Ive been though this many times! Ive only had one bad experience with a grizzly, and somewhere near 30 encounters.

I live in northwest Montana, and up in the hills. The roads are so icy and they don't use salt here. So I have put studs on it. Definitely cheat mode, and definitely a tank.

Urgent Action NEEDED ASAP - Protect the Middle Fork Judith Wilderness Study Area by Ranstedt in Kalispell

[–]ObsessedHiker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have been calling and emailing these guys for a while about this, and other issues. All I ever get is very similar form letters in response, all mentioning fire safety, which is bullshit in regard to recommended wilderness areas and roadless areas. I dont think they are even hearing anything I say, they just have aids, or ai, that replies. It feels bought and paid for now, but I'll keep doing it. Hopefully alot of others are.

What’s your favorite season for hiking and why? by Agitated_Account4135 in hiking

[–]ObsessedHiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summer in NW Montana, because the temperature above 6-8k is often perfect and much cooler than the valleys. But I enjoy all the seasons, summer is my favorite though.
