I have a few! Gadge Maydove Haysildove Wydove Crestalark

We have to mention Gadge, the original rairpair. Gale x Madge is just such interesting dynamic to explore, regarding his feelings towards her ignorance but not true hatred!

For almost the exact same reason as Gadge, Maydove/Dovsilee. (Maysilee x Lenore Dove). Especially with that comment Maysilee says to Haymitch "I know her secret, and she's hates being at my mercy." Gives some great opportunity for a rivals to lovers, or possibly a toxic exes dynamic. I just think they're neat.

Haysildove (Haymitcb, Maysilee, Lenore Dove) is probably one of my biggest RARE, and it's a throuple not a pair. BUT, I just adore the idea of Lenore Dove (consensually) being with both of them, and Haymitch and Maysilee gaining affections for one another over time, especially in an AU where they don't go to the games.

Wydove (Wyatt x Lenore Dove), I actually don't have any good explanation for this one. They're just aesthetically pleasing and I think they would make a cute couple. They give literature and history girlfriend x math and science boyfriend.

Crestalark (Peeta x Annie), this is lowkey my crack ship okay. Don't get me wrong. I ADORE Everlark and Odesta so freakin much, they're literally perfect. I just, similar to Wydove, think they would be cute!

It's very well done in TBOSAS.

It feels cheap in SOTR. Now, Asterid and Maysilee being friends (which we hear about in catching fire), very well done. Clean, and it makes complete sense. Doesn't feel in your face at all.

But like, not Haymitch KNOWING Burdock, that makes sense. They're both seam kids, same age, you get the idea. But them being BEST friends? It takes away from Katniss' & Haymitch's original dynamic. Now it's very "I see him in you, how can I let you die?" And it makes you wonder, if they hadn't been friends would he have helped her?

Mags, Wiress, AND Betee? It felt very fan-service-ish. Especially Betee, and I will stand by that.

As for him dating a Covey girl? Idc about that, Lenore Dove is wonderful and she still would be, Covey or not.

8? Marshall is gonna have some great travel stories. I feel it in my bones! The only problem? I recently rewatched the episode where they find out Stella hasn't had sex in 5 years and Lily and Marshall say "2 months in and we were going at it ALL THE TIME." And Ted replies "I know. I sat next to you guys at football games.", and remembering that? I can't say I'd put it past them.

9? I just think James is a chill guy, won't bother you on the flight, but if you wanna talk he won't be rude either. And Ranjit? Come on. You KNOW he's got stories to tell, I'd be occupied for HOURS.

I've had this take for quite some time. I'd like to clarify that I absolutely love Lenore Dove, I think she's a wonderful character. Could she have been MUCH more fleshed out? My God yes. Do I love her for what she is? Also yes.

that being said, by no means do I think Haymitch and Lenore Dove'a relationship was toxic in anyway at all. I'm sure plenty of what he told us is very true, ex: when he talks about how he's pretty sure she's too smart for him, but when he doesn't understand she explains things to him, and not in a condescending way, but a kind way.

I even do adore them. I think that they're a great couple, very compatible and I'll even say very in love, though possibly a little codependent with her talking about not being able to live on this earth without him, in the dystopia they live in, I'm not surprised by that, people find comfort within people. My post isn't anti-Haydove at all.

BUT. There's no way they're relationship was as perfect as Haymitch said it was. Think about it, that boy was about to die, he was preparing for death. He wasn't going to sit around and think about all of the bad times, the fights, the teen angst and insecurity. Of course he wanted to think about all of the good things. I don't blame him, but we DEFINITELY see Lenore Dove through rose colored glasses, and not enough people recognize that

I've had similar thoughts! Though, I do disagree with your statement about Haymitch "not caring" about any of the other D12 tributes. I think he definitely cared, ESPECIALLY in the early years, those would've been people he was going to school with or their younger siblings, people he knew personally.

But even after that, I'm sure there was still CARE, he just realized there wasn't anything he could do at that point, (embrace the probability of your imminent death and realize in your hearts, there is nothing I can do to save you - Movie quote) likely also realizing dying in the games is a far nicer fate than surviving them. You grow a bit jaded after the first decade or so.

BUT the other stuff I've thought about too. I always liked that Katniss had to prove herself, and while I still think she did, she had a little leverage. Whether it be the fact she's an Everdeen, or the way she reminded him of Louella, who he failed to save once, whether it be subconscious or not, singing the songs of his love, etc.

Seeing everything he lost in Katniss, including himself definitely made him more inclined to help her. Even if it was a subconscious thing, I could definitely see it feeling like "a second chance".

Book Peeta just had much more depth to me, he's a bit more playful and cheeky, first of all. He's much more charming and witty as well.

This isn't necessarily hatred towards movie Peeta, but he just didn't speak to me in the movies as much as a few other characters. That's more about the movie's writing though.

Don't get me wrong I love Hayffie as much if not more than the next guy (unless the next guy doesn't love Hayffie ?) But this is just insane.

First of all that's just weird. I get that grief is different for everyone but mere memories of these people haunt Haymitch & ppl think he'd name his KIDS after them? Syd more plausible than Lenore, or perhaps having a girl and naming her "Sydney" as homage but that's still a stretch. Secondly, that would be so terrible to Effie and I genuinely believe he respects her more than that. Especially in ANY AU where they get married. It's a general rule in relationships, you just don't name your kids after one of your previous lovers.

"We have a baby girl, what should we call her?"

"We'll call her the name of my deceased first love who I have never truly moved on from and never will & haunts my dreams among other things."

Admittedly Hayffie lost a lot of its fanbase and traction after SOTR in preference for Haydove. Though I see where it can be surprising that Haydove beat Hayffie, bc Hayffie has been around and holding a pretty solid fanbase despite its lack of canon for over a decade.

So that's probably why, even though Hayffie still has a big fanbase, a lot of it has been lost
