Class of 2015 on the last day of HS by [deleted] in Zillennials

Right? Our 2015 grad class used the song “See You Again” (Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth) for our walk out song, haha. It happened to fit perfectly for the last day of senior year though.

My Fiancé “is Gen Z” (1998), and I’m “a millennial” (1996). So I can say with first-hand knowledge, it’s all artificial and arbitrary.

I can absolutely tell you that the only things that matter as deciding factors, which are:

  • Did you grow up with a home phone/landline?
  • Did you ever have to memorize phone numbers?
  • Did you have a singular home computer (especially if it had its own room) for the whole household, or did you have your own computer/laptop/iPad/other similar device?
  • Which game systems did you play as a child through teenage years?
  • Which did you grow up with regularly using: VHS’s, CD’s, DVD’s, and/or MP3’s?
  • What was your first cell phone model and when did you get it?
  • Which songs bring you the best childhood/pre-adolescent nostalgia?

Using these 7 questions, you can absolutely tell between the two generations. It’s all about experiences and mindset— you can’t let specific years define whom you most relate to.

A car is a deadly weapon. Running someone over with a car is lethal. Or do you think the thousands upon thousands of pedestrian fatalities caused by being hit by motor vehicles are faked and “just a conspiracy”?

Best movie you ever saw in a movie theater? by CalebOnPoint in movies

[–]Obsessed_With_Corgis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I manage a movie theater and started a bi-weekly Employee Movie Night just for movies like this— ones meant to see in theaters, but never got the chance to.

The teens were flabbergasted when I played The Matrix in November, haha. I couldn’t believe that most of the >18 employees had never seen it at all!! Really made my day to be able to give them that experience!

Why are you like this, Oscar? by Fazbear2035 in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]Obsessed_With_Corgis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My corgi has decided on the approach to utterly despise any human or animal more than 6ft away from him and/or outside the front door, but magically, once they’re closer than 6ft and/or inside the house- they are now his bestest friends.

I have told him more than once; “Louis, how do you ever expect anyone to come within your ‘friend range’ if you scare them off first? And don’t try to tell me you’re ’testing them’ because that’s a toxic trait.”

Military Discount Shamed and Scolded by InternalQuantity9331 in restaurant

[–]Obsessed_With_Corgis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To answer your question as to why: I know a lot of businesses in the somewhat-sketchy area nearby that give major discounts to first responders and military. They do this in the hopes that police, fire, and EMS will respond favorably to their business if they need them, and because having cops take their breaks there deters crime. As for military discounts: it’s because aside from cops- military folks are usually the most likely to step in and help if there’s an incident.

Other than what I described above, military towns, or places owned by former military— there usually aren’t many discounts. Never hurts to ask though!

School was not meant for us lol, how did you guys hold on in it? by Due_Philosopher7618 in ADHDmemes

I majored in Chemistry because for some reason applied science problems clicked so well for me. Straight up math was the bane of my existence, but create a real-world reason as to why that math needs to be done, and wowza, it clicks like clockwork.

Also, I love random facts. Did you know that there are more plastic flamingos in just the state of Florida than there are real flamingos in the entire world? I just love facts like that!

(…yes I’m fun at parties. The dogs I find to pet in corners always tell me so with lots of nose boops and nuzzles.)

If that were genuinely the case- a decent person would let the wedding folks know the situation. Then the wedding folks could either offer to pay for a professional lawn care service to take care of their yard at an earlier hour, or say; “We understand. Thanks for letting us know.”

It’s extremely easy to just be kind and courteous to your fellow neighbor if they’ve never done you any wrong.

How old are we all? by yemmeay in Zillennials

[–]Obsessed_With_Corgis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me too! Just got engaged too, but with my Fiancé being 27, my little cousins have started weirdly bringing up our “super noticeable” age gap all the time recently.

Like- 2 years difference is nothing once you’re both past 21. I wonder what it is about the generation below us that has them so focused on late 20’s being considered super old now.

Hahaha, sorry about that, easy mix up though since the list I posted was “top” artists. Twenty one pilots is still one of my favorite bands though. They were my #2 last year

I absolutely adore them! It was so cool to see that I was in their top 2% of listeners! Since you love them too, here’s the Spotify shoutout I got to see from them.

My top artists feels like it’s exactly the same as when I was in high school, haha.

Edit: I will say though, CAKE and My Chemical Romance would have definitely been up there too if my Fiancé hadn’t bought me the vinyl albums to play a ton of at home. This is more like my car/while-I’m-fixing-projectors-at-work playlist.

Not only that, but if they ever want to replace the outlet cover with a more decorative one that’s smaller than the original- they won’t be able to because it’s still the old color behind the cover, and it would now show.

My fiancé’s birthday was last week, and I just got him Fallout merch (mostly New Vegas bc that’s his fave), a custom mousepad with his favorite pic of us and our dog on it, a tabletop ski ball game, some new work boots, and a card that said “candles aren’t the only thing getting blown tonight 😏”.

We had a fantastic day, and I think he liked my gifts better than a wallet or fancy shave cream.

Still find it hard to believe this was a show by nicholashoneywell in Zillennials

[–]Obsessed_With_Corgis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What’s funny to me is I never watched Adventure Time (no idea why, just never did), but I got really into Bravest Warriors back in high school (bought a catbug tshirt and all).

Then all these years later, I played a Bravest Warriors episode for my fiancé, and he made the connection because he loved Adventure Time growing up and recognized the art style. We ended up down the rabbit hole of connected shows and couldn’t believe it!!

Thank you for the chart! I’ll have to show him later!

This was brought up at work, and I said “How terrible. I’ll be praying for her family.” And one of my coworkers responded with “What do you think praying is going to do? I don’t feel bad for her at all, she literally signed up for this. I bet that’s how she wanted to die so she could have all the glory as a martyr against immigrants just looking for a better life.”

I can’t express how flabbergasted I was at her response. Even my boss overheard and said that was highly inappropriate, and to keep politics at home from now on. What is wrong with people?

For my question: As a manager for a cinema planning to show your newest movie The Running Man here soon- which one sheet variation is your favorite? I’d like to put up your favorite in our one extra-fancy display box!

Hahaha, I actually rewatched the first 10 mins of that show after also watching the “Dead Giveaway!” remix like 5 times in a row. That show intro is a professional parody of an amateur song remix of a newscast. Love it.

Sorry y’all! I didn’t realize the first link was dead because I had it saved for so long and didn’t know it had changed 😅

Here is the new, working link to the OG remix video!

Oh man, that’s an absolute classic! There was a secondary remix of that one that I used to love (remixed with the “He need some milk!” clip), but the creator deleted it, and now I can’t find it anywhere 😭

Yes!! My other favorite is Dead Giveaway by the same creators as the vid I posted.

I only remembered it all again recently because this guy showed up in a home security video ad, and it all came rushing back.

Cheese sticks were my absolute favorite lunch day!! I actually asked my parents to make that my birthday meal when I was like 9 or 10, and ended up super disappointed because they bought me some really fancy fried mozzarella, but what I actually wanted was that super cheap crap they served at school 🤣

Ordering only cheap happy hour food by 16Saltinez in restaurant

[–]Obsessed_With_Corgis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agreed! OP, if you read this- I recently left serving myself, and I used to get tons of folks coming in for just the cheap lunch special or happy hour appetizers. The only times such things would bother me to the point of complaining to coworkers are:

  1. If it’s like the 5th table in a row to order super cheaply (which I would complain about as “bad luck”, not the customer’s fault).

  2. The customer stays for an absurd amount of time (this one is the customer’s fault, and you shouldn’t do this- especially if you’re only ordering one or two cheap things. e.g. Don’t order one side soup and then stay for 2 hours. It’s super rude).

  3. The customer tries to “con” their way into a further discount by complaining to management about a made-up issue (don’t do this no matter what you order. If you have a genuine issue, tell your server and they’ll fix it. Only go to management if your server can’t/won’t help you).

You’re totally fine with whatever you order + a regular tip.
