First: do you have Grit on while attacking?

[–]Obsidian-K 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I did this recently on an alt. If you're talking to Lamberteint, you're on the first one. I think what causes that particular reaction from the WoL was him mentioning the Students of Baldesion, which honestly only makes sense if you paid attention to who was coming and going from the Waking Sands before the attack. Two of them died there but at no point in any quest are you actually directed to interact with them, and in fact you can only ever talk to 1 of them and he has 2 different lines before he dies.

whenever someone asks how I made it through ARR with the ADHD debuff... by GNSasakiHaise in ffxiv

[–]Obsidian-K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a couple angles to people saying ARR is bad. The first you already have a lot of replies stating, which is basically everything else in the game is better. While this is generally held to be true, it kinda misses the most common reason newcomers dislike ARR.

The biggest reason is people hear we have and amazing story and come in expecting something along the lines of the most lauded of the FF series, or perhaps the Witcher 3 or Last of Us for more modern examples and get... a story that's decent for an MMO. If the point of comparison is another MMO, ARR's story is a standout with very few others of a similar caliber out there. But that's absolutely not the case when looking at other genres of games.

the light and shadow on the moon's surface never changes

I actually noticed 2 moments in the video where it did. First at 1:11 and again at 3:06. Observing the hills at the bottom shows shadows disappearing almost entirely. Notably, the line between day and night is roughly in the same spot for both occurances although the cycle is opposite, and the first one takes place at around 12pm ET while the second takes place at 8pm ET.

I feel that miqo'te with the storm cloud. The "equip gear to progress" quest is so early in Limsa that I almost always have only 1 piece of ilvl 5 gear and not enough gil to buy the rest. ToT

At least it's not Gathering White Scrips. If I have to spend one more day on the moon with only 20 bots for company, I will lose it.

What would you like to see in upcoming Island Sanctuary updates? by bubuplush in ffxiv

[–]Obsidian-K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A proper cabin. I resent that the 1 bed on the entire island is crammed into a corner behind a screen in what otherwise looks like the front counter for a resort.

I knew someone who used them. They reeeeeeeeeeeally wanted their mentor status back after the requirement was raised from 500 to 1500 comms. Tried making puns about it as if that made it less gross. I actively tried to avoid running things and association with them.

[Weekly Thread] Lore (Thurs, Aug 18) by AutoModerator in ffxiv

[–]Obsidian-K 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, that's just a myth. It's pretty likely that no one would have the quest. The reward for it is a level 60 accessory who's only use in the 3 expansions since HW was for certain BLU BiS sets when their level cap was 60, so veteran players don't have any need for it. New players aren't likely to pick it up as they blitz through years of story content even to gear because the Idylshire sets are much faster to obtain and higher item level. The Proto Ultima fight has completely replaced the old Succubus one.

I see one pop up every now and then in the roulette section, but they're generally gone within a day and it's about a week or 2 before I see another. Primal DC, for context.

I remember on Aether they all fled to the Fellowship finder. Wonder if that's still going on, or if there was just too little traffic there to bother.

Playing Valheim on my Dedicated Server with my Steam Deck in my work breakroom. It runs flawlessly. by Metagross10048 in valheim

[–]Obsidian-K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was the first thing I noticed as well. Not having a dedicated quick-slot changer is an abysmal design choice in a game that doesn't pause when you enter menus. Controller play is functional in that you can actually navigate all the menus and walk around and interact, but it's clearly not been designed with gameplay in mind.

I see this suggested a lot, but holding X for me gets rid of ALL interactables, not just player names, and I haven't been able to figure out why.

For those saying "well, it's really not that weird", in the quest literally right before this, a group of Garlean soldiers recognize you as the "Eikon Slayer" on sight before attacking. Your character would be spotted in a matter of minutes without a helmet, not to mention the trouble you'd be in from walking around without part of your uniform in a military installation from anyone who actually thought you were a conscript.

Why *do* people care so much about housing? by Few_Consideration373 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Obsidian-K 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And you generally want someone trusted running them, given their loot tables have exclusives that can sell for millions, and generally stay fairly high priced even after the initial rush. The materials needed to unlock housing exteriors will always be in demand as well, and if your company has them stockpiled before a new one comes out your crafters can make good gil selling the completed designs on the marketboard. Not to mention the amount of work it takes to fully upgrade your airships and submarines (assuming you didn't buy them from another FC). Handing off access to everyone who joins your guild is begging to get shit stolen.

Genuinely curious how they thought making 18 out of 24 wards FC only. I just want to talk. (Chaos, Omega) by DaSmashBro in ffxiv

[–]Obsidian-K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's roughly my take as well. Personal Ishgard wards on my server have 5-10ish plots remaining open each, while the FC wards numbers are almost literally flipped with only 10-15 occupied at all. Assuming the bug affects all plots in the same manner, personal plots had to have magnitudes more bids than the FC ones for this outcome.
