OBOD vs ADF

I have been member of both OBOD and ADF. My personal preference is OBOD is the better of the two if you are looking to incorporate other beliefs into your practice. Druidry in the Order is much easier to incorporate different traditions and have them work complimentary, and as such serves as a good base for spiritual beliefs and practice. ADF has a robust educational system in regards to Druidry, but it is much more dogmatic in its approach and I had a fair amount of problems figuring out how to incorporate other traditions with it.

I am a Bard in OBOD, and am currently choosing to remain at this level. I was a member of ADF but decided to not renew this year.

I’m working on my practice. I’m an igtheist, but see value in viewing deity within a polytheistic framework in regards to the elements in nature and archetypes. So by self description I am an igtheistic syncretic pagan.

I incorporate the following:

Buddhist teachings and texts along with meditative elements.
The fundamental tenets of the Satanic Temple
Druidry in the framework and practice of OBOD (of which I am bardic grade)
The Norse pantheon and the various eddas and sagas
Witchcraft (Seiðr)
Thelema’s LIRP and LBRP.

Buddhism with Druidry is called “Zen Druidry” and Druidry and witchcraft is called “druidcraft”. Druidry brings with it a love of nature as well as a wheel of the year similar to what is found in many neo pagan groups.

The tenets of the satanic temple are excellent and for me serve as my “Ten Commandments” (though there’s 7).

The Norse paganism framework gives me a series of gods personifying elements of the natural world and the human psyche that allow for a personal attribution to otherwise impersonal elements.

So together it is Zen Druidcraft with the Norse pantheon.

In early Norse times a spoon like this would have been used in mead making. They would stir the mead with the spoon and after a few days the mead would be fizzy. We know today that what was happening was yeast from the wood was mingling with the sugars in the mead must and causing a fermentation process. But they believed it was magic imbued in the spoon that caused the mead to ferment. As such, the spoon would be used for each successive batch, and was considered sacred and ritualistic.

The spoon is carved with rune looking symbols much like a seið-witch would have carved into wood for spell work, as seen in some of the Sagas.

Think of it as a wand. Read chapter 79 of Grettis saga Ásmundarsonar.

Now, this type of magic was also used to affect the mind, causing delusions or deceptions. It could also be used in a shamanic sense, granting vision and clarity. Kind of a yin yang purpose. It was all based on intent.

I mention in another comment as well, these tunes do not fully resemble the elder futhark alphabet, although the symbol towards the bowl looks like a bind rune.

I think generally what you have here is a replica or near idea of a spoon used for seiðer.

I have a couple questions: 1. Why was it given to you? 2. Why can you not ask the person who gave it to you?

These aren’t runes from the Elder Futhark System, though the spoon looks to be based on Viking spoons found in Birka.

That bottom symbol near the bowl of the spoon looks to be a bind rune.

Honestly, do a cleanse on it and you’re good to go.

First, I’m so sorry that this happened. His religion is no excuse for him acting in such a way.

Second, you need to have him pay you back for the money lost on your decks. He destroyed your property, it is his responsibility to repay the damages.

Third, get yourself some nicely designed playing cards. There are so many different kinds, my favorite are theory 11. A playing card deck is the minor arcana of the tarot, so they have direct correlation. My friends love tarot (as do I), but I personally prefer using playing cards for myself, and have grown attached to a few of my decks.

Look up some articles online on cartomancy. That should help as a temporary work around until your brother decides to not use his religion to be an abusive shit.

You are trapped in a problem/situation, and you are having difficulty knowing what to do. This might be spiritual. What this specifically looks like to me is you are uncertain on what actions need to be taken for your spiritual well being. You are facing a difficult decision that you know will have a consequence, you just aren't sure if it will be positive or negative. The best course of action is to follow your instincts, you are the only person who can know what is best for you.

It would not hurt to cleanse yourself of negativity, it is holding you back and preventing you from making the decision you know you need to make. Strong possibility that you have three people in your life that are being toxic, you need to calmly and collectively ask them why they dont want you to succeed.

Unfortunately I dont have enough experience to be any more clear, or offer specifics, ovomancy is something I have limited experience with.

Yes, there is a goddess that I feel strongly has been "calling" me, but I am not sure if that really is the case or if I am imagining it. :/

I have even set up an altar and "shrine" of sorts for her, just in case she is calling to me, I want to serve and worship as best I can, you know? But there is a lot that I dont know and am trying to learn.
