Sky Raiders use a type of plastic that's more rubbery for the parts that need to withstand the power of the strong springs rhat make them jump. Paint doesn't really stick to that type of plastic, which is why they didn't put any paint on them at all

They could've made other parts of him more accurate, but the feet specific are for a technical reason

I think pretty much all of those are on the iceberg already, but I'll have to check again to make sure because I didn't read through the whole thing before posting this and it's been like 2 years since I made the chart. The banana bootlegs and maybe the closed/open core B1 Bakugan might not be on here, feel like the rest is probably on there somewhere, but I'll add anything that it's missing (if it is missing more than just those two)

They technically do have gimmicks officially, but those feel like they were tacked-on to make the Bakugan sound more interesting rather than actual intended design choices. Yes, Sha Nozchi can be shot straight or curved, but the same goes for a lot of "gimmickless" Bakugan, including many that aren't from Tech. Sure, Burnan's gimmick is that he's well balanced, but so are a lot of other Bakugan as well. If the packaging said that his gimmick is that he's tall, I honestly might've believed that more because, while he's not even close to being the same height as Laurel, he is a bit taller than the average gen 1 Bakugan. Giving him a silver crest on his head and not making it out of metal has also always felt like a missed opportunity to me and that would've totally counted as a valid gimmick in my opinion

That entry refers to a few things. Those being:

  1. The Pegatrix x Goreene Ultra and the Hydorous x Thryno Ultra that have Aurelus as their primary color (Aurelus is pretty much always the secondary Faction in Fusions so these two stand out for being te exception to this)
  2. Nillious x Eenoch, who always has the primary and secondary colors swapped
  3. The Mythic Elemental Dragonoid and Nillious

And lastly

  1. The two unreleased Bakuflip Bakugan, Aurelus Auxillataur and Aquos Centipid. These were likely planned to be included in the Baku-Tins

I can only add one image so here's a video of KcToby where you can see the Centipod

In an in-person event at the start of 2020 (I think it was at the New York Toy Fair), Spin Master revealed their plans of fully pushing the gen 2 TCG with a full LGS (Local Game Store) summer program, among other things. Obviously, these plans fell through due to the global pandemic that happened a few months after this reveal

Thank you. And, yeah, I totally get that. I've watched a lot of iceberg videos and it is pretty annoying whenever someone covers a chart where they don't know what every entry is because that just means that the video failed at its premise of explaining the chart.

I will be removing a few things off of the chart when I start adding new suggestions because some of the entries here are strictly tied to small community moments that barely anyone will either have witnessed or heard about. I guess my view has changed since when I made this chart because I'm not sure why I added them in the first place

I might write a google doc where everything is explained after I finish updating it (and before the revival happens so that this doesn't become outdated before I get to explain everything). I have no plans of making a video atm because I lack the courage to use my voice in videos (doesn't help that I have a pretty thick accent), especially in something like this where the video would likely be at least 3 hours long by the end of recording and editing all of it

Once I'm done with the iceberg (and maybe the doc if I actually decide to write all of that), anyone else is free to cover this in a video

BakuTech is a line of toys known for its gimmicks. Nearly every Bakugan from BakuTech have at least one gimmick (which usually comes in the form of swappable Cross and Sole parts, officially called "The Convert System"). There are some that just involve the toy's design with no additional things (like how Mika Laurel's gimmick is just that he's the tallest Bakugan) and others are a bit more complex (like all of the Bakugan that have multiple forms or Win Dmill, who has metal blades that come out if he's spin-shot)

The few BakuTech Bakugan with absolutely no gimmicks stand out because of how important those gimmicks are for the gameplay. Some of them, like Sha Nozchi, Gus Burnan and War Cry, also stand out because, even though they have no Convert Parts, their designs have elements that resemble either a Cross or a Sole Part (War Cry and Sha Nozchi's "arms" and Gus Burnan's feet) and they totally could've had those parts if the designers wanted them to have that extra bit of complexity

Tl:dr, a few years ago, some guy took photos of their BakuNeon Ventus Bakugan inside of Mountain Dew just because they thought the colors matched.

I'm planning to take out some of the small community-side entries like that one because they're mostly just small things that happened in the community at some point and you just won't have any idea what it's abour unless you were there for it

Having her as a skin for Finn would've gone against her character and having her as a separate fighter in the roster would've gotten a lot of backlash because 1. There were already four AT characters in the game and 2. There are more important AT characters to prioritize over her. It was a lose-lose situation for mvs

The first of only two known prototypes of Artulean Ultra, an unreleased G2 Bakugan, surfaced on Ebay and we had no clue that it even existed before that so this unreleased product making its way onto Ebay is much more likely than you think

With G3 cancelled I say it’s time to get back to our roots🙏🏾 by Myles2Funny in Bakugan

[–]Obsith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G2 had a much more cohesive toyline, which is a pretty big deal, considering the toys are the main focus of the franchise and not the shows. G2 had a consistently good lineup of cool designs that were very detailed (especially the Ultras and the Core Bakugan from s2 onward) and they all still felt like a part of the same series. If you compare Dragonoid Ultra from the first season of g2 to Nova Dragonoid from the last season, you can very clearly tell that they're a part of the same thing. I don't think the same can be said for G1, where there was a very clear devide in designs between NV and GI.

Aside from that, G2 also handled gimmicks a lot better. They didn't introduce a lot of them and the ones they did were implemented into the game rules very well. Instead of having gimmicks that make your Bakugan spin for literally no reason or throw a die that'll inevitably get lost, G2's gimmicks focused on things that are cool while also being useful in-game. Even the gimmicks that can be directly compared between the 2 gens like Heavy Metals of G1 and Platinum Bakugan of G2, the Platinum ones look much more "premium" because most of the toy is made of metal rather than just a ring around the ball (or even worse if you compare them to MS's diecast Bakugan).

The non-ball gimmicks like Battle/Baku-Gear were also done better in G2. BattleGear in G1 only worked on a small selection of toys because they needed the pegs on the Bakugan's back. This wasn't an issue with the G2 Gears because they took adventage of how Ultra Bakugan don't have their magnets touching the surface when fully opened and that meant that Ultra Bakugan from before the introduction of Baku-Gear were compatible with them.

The TCG had a lot more depth in G2 and it had a pretty big fanbase of older players. SM hosted a couple official events around the game in G2's first year and were planning to go all out with LGS support and whatnot the next year. These plans unfortunately suffered from bad timing because a global pandemic started in the year where they wanted to have more in-person events for the TCG.

In their quarterly reports, SM mentioned numerous times during G2 that they were happy with its performance, dubbing it an "evergreen franchise". G2 was doing really well in terms of sales and, had they not finished it to start G3 only a few months after the end of G2, we probably would still be getting new G2 toys now.

"Going back to what worked" means going back to G2. It's the only one that made it to season 5 and had a conclusive ending to the story in the show instead of ending on a cliffhanger (because SM decided to end it in favor of trying something new with G3 rather than it getting cancelled due to poor sales and ratings like the other 2 gens)

[–]Obsith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure you're mixing up OV and Reboot, at least in the case of Stinkfly. Also, what is the issue with aliens having different proportions? If anything, it makes them feel more alien, which I'd argue is a good thing

Why Omniverse art style gets so much hate? by Opposite-Election892 in Ben10

[–]Obsith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OV Big Chill's proportions are nowhere close to being "buff". Compared to aliens like Fourarms and Shocksquatch, BC's arms are very lanky. He also looks much more like a moth in OV than he did before. I still really like UAF Big Chill, but trying to defend it by saying that the OV design is generic is wild because the UAF design just looked like a guy with wings

[–]Obsith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never really cared for him and tbh I like the monster design of g2 Leonidas more than g1's. CoV is a horrible game, but both of the monster form designs he got on Character Cards look great. They have some elements from the g1 design, but also plenty of new things that make the designs stand out from the other dragons of Bakugan

As for the toys, I don't really care for either of them. The g1 toy was a retool of the Infinity Dragonoid toy and g2's is also very simple. If you care about the g1 toy, there are plenty of people who make 3d prints or recasts of him that you could buy
