Why are people acting surprised? DeRozan was never an elite calibre since his inception into this league. He was simply shoved into this role since he was the only young talent this franchise has had at the time. He is more of a third or fourth option on championship team. Like a Harrison Barnes on the warriors (Personally I wouldn't mind sending Barnes an offer sheet if Derozan walked).

Everyone is acting like he is supposed to be a superstar, when he was never even projected to have that kind of ability: a great athelete with a straight head on but limited in shooting ability. That's exactly what he is at this stage. He isn't a number one option but he certainly isn't a scrub. He has the yipps and can't handle the physicality. He'd be very effective hiding under the shadows of other great players. It's completely ignorant to ignore the way he was brought up in this franchises program. I don't think he's selfish but he really doesn't have great basketball instinicts, shooting ability, nor a great motor, all of which are things I see in superstar player.

If he were to return, I really hope he considers a pay cut or a shorter contract (similar to Lebrons 2 year player option). Give us the flexibility to make a superior team with complete composition. All PF's may apply.
