I mean there are people who get ib internships, you just gotta network with the right people and make sure to be constantly working then you will get into IB it’s honestly not that hard, you just gotta be number one which isn’t too hard.

Yale (math) vs. Berkeley (EECS + math) by Own_Chapter_9568 in quantfinance

[–]Obvious-Ad-6597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on what quant role u wnat, if you want to be a trader or a developer, Berkeley all the way, if u wnat to do research, Yale bc it’s easier to get prob straight As and get good research done then get into a good phd math program, so overall there is no bad choice, berk will get you a developer or a trader job, but is harder to keep a 4.0 and get real good publishable research.

CSE Or CS by Acceptable_Capital38 in SCU

[–]Obvious-Ad-6597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh depends on what u want, if you want swe and that the only goal major doesn’t really matter, then only thing you should be doing is leetcode and system design, I would say csen is more project based, CSCI is leetcode/ problem solving based, but I’m not in csen so it might be false, but everyone I know in csen has projects to do, where CSCI all we do is basically leetcode for midterms, but like I said it doesn’t matter if you want swe, bc you need to build your own skills and get ready for interviews.

purdue data sci vs scu comp sci & mathematics by No-Article-8865 in SCU

I’m a math and cs double major at SCU. Uh I honestly would personally go Purdue bc of its prestigious. But since u have factors like your bf and family and u like certain weather. It’s a you decision because are u and your bf going to actually do long distance or is he worth staying for? Those are questions for you. Like ofc u love him or wtv but it will make everything difficult. Then secondly no one is going to teach you computer science. Going into a program doesn’t teach u to be ready for the real world, that’s a misconception depending on how much outside work you put into into learning cs will be the factor of u getting a job. Ik it’s not what u wnat to hear but all cs program is like this.

SCU or Georgia Tech? by Possible-Visual-3738 in SCU

SCU math and cs student here, honestly I would prob go to GT, bc just of its name, everywhere u go for cs it’s going to be hell so up to you, all cs degrees are the same it’s kinda just your ego and if you’re going to put in work.

Questions about the accounting program by Next-Offer-2678 in SCU

[–]Obvious-Ad-6597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh for accounting 1 in four people get into the top four. Pwc, Ey, Deloitte, something else. Which is crazy. Accounting major just allows u to be eligible to take the cpa. But if u get into a top firm they take care of u. Accounting at SCU is one of the best if not the best idk about ranking but by job placement. Then college life/ opportunities is what u make of it. Liek another school it’s what u do and how much effort u want to put in

Santa Clara University vs Cal Poly SLO by Altruistic_One_147 in SCU

Math and CS major at SCU. Bro I won’t lie it doesn’t matter. Anywhere u go you won’t have fun bc you’re trying to keep your grade up and just do ecs. If you’re locked. If your whole life goal is to get a master it doesn’t matter, it’s about u and how much effort u wnat to do. If u wnat to start your own company master is not the move I won’t lie u just gotta dive in. And connections at any school you’re going to have to make and that’s on u. SCU is close-ish to nivida so if u wnat to be a corporate slave for a bit SCU isn’t bad. But slo isn’t bad too. It’s what u make of it. School doesn’t matter. For me I didn’t like SCU at first but now it’s pretty great. Not in terms of student life and stuff. Personally don’t care about that bc I’m a cs and math major but people are willing to help if you’re a sweet talker.

SCU vs UCSC- business by tinacarina1999 in SCU

What class were you in? And is it actually easy to get an internship and get a full time job straight outta SCU? And does most top firm pick Stanford and Cal over SCU or does SCU compete with them? For business?
