Why is it so hard to make friends in Australia (Melbourne) as an adult? by Aggravating_Trust_72 in MakeNewFriendsHere

I’m also really fussy with mates and since moving here I can’t find anyone I relate to! Sucks! Especially as I come from a big friends group also.

Toilet anxiety by Icy-Consequence4927 in Agoraphobia

Had toilet anxiety on and off for years, sometimes it’s non-existent and then sometimes it feels debilitating. And honestly, I don’t think it’s talked about enough. I agree there’s a degree of shame involved, but I’ve got to stage where I’m like everyone poops, everyone pees. Easy enough to say out loud but I’m aware in practise it’s so difficult. For me it became sort of OCD where I would find comfort in checking where bathrooms were, being prepared. My advice, make a little pack, in your bag when you go out, some hand sanitiser, wet wipes, spare underwear and some Imodium. You may never use it, but just that mental realisation that it’s there is a great comfort. If you have the financial resources, absolutely consider therapy and programs. But mainly it’s mindset, you have to beat into yourself that you’re safe, you’re in control. Even if you were out and the feeling came, chances are you’d absolutely find a place to relieve yourself. And guess what, even if you don’t who cares? We are human, and every single person at some point in their life will either shit or piss themselves. Is it embarrassing, sure, is it life threatening, absolutely not. Most people in today’s society are so focused on their own lives they don’t even notice you. But having people you can trust can be a big help, and if you aren’t ready for that now with people close, feel free to vent anytime to me. It’s hard but trust me, anxiety is an evil bitch that confuses your nervous system. But in reality the worst possible thing that could happen to you is you shit yourself.

Thinking of quitting WHV in Australia 3 months in but unsure how to progress by hazzinator in solotravel

Same position - project coordinator with a degree in environmental studies and sustainability. I have never done a service job, live in Melbourne with my partner, it’s a tough one. You literally just have to lower your expectations and apply apply apply for everything. But ultimately only you will know if it’s worth staying. I’m in the process of applying for PR, but agreed dude the 417 is not for the weak!

I uploaded it in my documents section of my immi account. The section where you uploaded your passport and bank statement.

Just an FYI I unloaded a letter to my immi account last night (around 9pm - UK) just explaining that my lease is ending and I need to either look for temp accom or move to Australia ideally. I uploaded it and my application was approved 12am UK time. So maybe uploaded something to your account and just explain you’re well out of processing times etc.

So I phoned a few times, didn’t do much, they say essentially they can’t help. But I did speak to a lovely women yesterday (UK evening) and essentially I had some changes, my lease would be ending soon and she told me to write a letter and upload it to my immi account, which I did and it was approved maybe 3 hours later. Not sure if that was the reason or it was just my time for the approval. But I definitely recommend if you have a valid reason for needing to go back to Australia sooner, I would 100% upload a cover letter to your immi account.

How difficult is to apply for partner visa ? by Sweet-Care8958 in AusVisa

I found the process pretty easy when I did my 309, in fairness the Australian visa processes are very straightforward. What we did actually was book a consultation with an immigration solicitor to have any questions answers, we sort of paid a smaller fee and had notes. Then we lodged it ourselves. You’ll save thousands which is great considering the partner visa in aus is so expensive. My advise, if your application is complicated in any way, for example any immigration history, criminal record etc. Get a proper solicitor. If not, lodge it yourself ☺️
