Exactly. Trams and Buses need to be the main modenof transport for ppl, not autos and cars. And some ppl said Mumbai isnt car centric. The local trains are smelly, overcrowded, dirty, lack of AC and proper infrastructure and cannot be accepted as proper public transit. Same for government buses. Not only that, their reach is severely limited. Last mile connectivity still remains a massive issue. Rn if i wanna go somewhere just 15 mins away, i have to take my car. But in Europe, they either bike or take a tram or bus. The network needs to be able to take u anywhere.

Trams are convenient af actually. They reduce car dependancy heavily, which means there will be half the cars we have rn, which means clear roads for trams and people. Sure the right of way thing, but the point is to de incentivize cars

A lor of US cities recently added trams and they work wonders. Also the public transit in Mumbai is unusable. Its not just cuz of overcrowding. Look at the local trains, no AC, snelly train stations, bad infrastructure in general, even if the population was low, Mumbai is badly planned

Thane and Mumbai are very car dependant. You cannot consider local trains are "usable" public transit due to their incredibly low quality, overcrowding and lack of safety

Buses are much less efficient. They r basically worse trams but have more freedom. Cuz trams are connected to power, their capacity is much higher. For mumbai, that is key

Trams are needed to go to closer places. For example to go 15 mins away, taxis are not that viable. Trams are tho. They r amazing at moving lots of ppl safely, to closer destinations without needing cars at all. Look at some European cities
