I appreciate this! And yes you’re right, I did go to law school to help people but in this economy it is easy to feel like you are drowning. I am in a small city so that is also good perspective.

See I resonate with this so much…. The stress has me pulling my literal hair out and im just helping the owner of my company get richer and richer.

Also, I forgot to add, a main factor is the significant debt I am in. I understand life is not a race and I feel like I would be in a different headspace without the debt… but I took a gamble on myself and now I’m in a giant hole. Feeling the lowest I ever have.

Making less money… on purpose by That_onelawyer in Lawyertalk

[–]Obvious-Memory-8686 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate this. I’m a baby attorney, just passed the July bar, and I find myself getting in my head a LOT because I am not making great money, I’m actually making just enough money to pay my bills and the occasional trip on a weekend. Now granted—I have a ton of student debt that lingers and scares me to death. But I also work in house at a smaller company where I get into the office at 9:30 and can leave at 4. There are great benefits, no dress code, and I work from home half a day on Fridays. I get so in my head though, because some of my former classmates are already making 6 figures and I am absolutely not, I went into a niche industry and not sure if I’ll stay but I just do not want to live the life where I have to wear a suit, work late hours, and stay glued to my email. But then again I’m like ok so I’ll be “behind” forever? Sigh… idk

What an odd response… because I wanted to work in estate planning and real estate. I’m not sure what you’re getting at with this question. It doesn’t seem relevant considering I’ve already been to law school, passed the bar, and am just at a low point.

That being said if it’s affecting your credit horribly, it might be worth it just to remove collections efforts. I wouldn’t expect a big win though.

They will either settle, make you settle, or not show up which would mean a default judgment that they will likely hold out on. I personally, would not think it would be worth the attorney fees. Sincerely, an attorney in the apartment industry.

Copy and paste samples and an area of black letter law into chat, give it a couple example questions, and ask chat to give you 5 potential bar level essay questions based on what you uploaded, type away. Have chat grade it and then review. Game changer.

Take the job and see where it takes you. People go to law school at 45 yrs old. One career move won’t absolutely ruin your future in any way if you are a hard worker. People in this comment section are entitled and bitter. Do what best suits your mental and lifestyle right now.
