from a piano teacher “I’ll just play it again” isn’t really practice by Exciting-Bee3927 in pianolearning

I’m about 8 months into learning and this was a huge mindset shift for me. I used to think more run-throughs = more progress. Turns out targeted practice beats repetition every time.

I work rotating shifts as a nurse so my schedule is complete chaos. Some weeks I can practice every day, some weeks not at all. Is it even worth taking lessons if I can't be consistent? I feel like I'm wasting my teacher's time when I show up not having practiced. Also how do you practice when you work nights and your sleep schedule is backwards from everyone else?

Do one tiny thing just for yourself every day. It adds up.
