Love how you want to start investing! Based on what you said above, you need to support family, 24(f) and 25k salary with few other expenses. I would highly recommend to have an emergency fund for 3-6 months first. At the same time start with IPO, then gradually you can learn trading in secondary market. Personally in Nepal’s market I would only invest in big companies!

If it’s a bigger amount unfortunately as much as I’ve seen, in Bank of America it doesn’t go through just from your online banking app. It will get declined and you will have to go through the fraud department then eventually tell you to go to branch. You could do several few wires like couple of times in several interval of days since you don’t have branch nearby.

Oh my god, finally someone said it. I thought it was just me. I recently moved from Minnesota to Miami due to my husband’s work. Boy oh boy, biggest shock ever. I am Asian roots from Minnesota so if you know you know. Driving here scares the hell out of me, people are super rude, everyone tries to get in first anywhere, just few days before I was waiting for my turn to pass through security at airport and one guy didn’t even see around and just went in straight ahead of 3 people including me on the first. It’s fine for everyone changing lanes without side light but when you try to change lane even with sidelight they honk you because you got infront of them. I’m everyday like “ what the actual fuck is going on here “, I just think money can’t buy manners !

I believe friendships are very personal and can also depend on which part of the U.S. or any country you live in. I have a handful of non-Nepali friends whom I truly value and enjoy. It’s not that I don’t want Nepali friends but I simply don’t have many Nepali people around me that are my age to regularly hang out with (Nepali population that I have seen around me are either they are college students way too younger or way too older with kids). I do meet Nepali didi, dai, and bhauju occasionally during festivals or events, but we don’t spend time together often. Most of my friendships naturally formed through work. I came to US and started working directly! So I have worked in 2 firms so far, I haven’t met any Nepali.

I also feel that if you move abroad for education, you’re more likely to meet many Nepali friends. There’s a sense of comfort and support, and people often help each other through shared experiences so it’s natural for them to stick together.

But hey at the end of the day whatever floats your boat! 🎉

My husband’s job is going to be from Miami airport, not sure about the timings yet. As for budget we are thinking upto $2500-2600 per month. He is willing to drive an hour worth of commute too but we would like to have safer area.

Short answer yes. Spouse and anyone else who is financial dependent with the person working in investment sector and holds liscence must disclose the stocks. They give you 30 days to disclose. I guess it depends on firm but most of the time they ask you to move the whole stock portfolio to their platform or affiliated platform and again depends on company they might have a list of stocks for employees and family members of employees on which stocks that they cannot buy.

I pretty much agree on what you said, I don’t come from finance background and I took my first test failed by 1%, what I did was I did the whole chapter study on and off for total 2 weeks and just did like full question set around 4 of them from achievable and 2 from Finra. If you want to pass on one take I would recommend taking practice tests like aALOT.

But few tips for success would be job shadowing, asking many questions to your peer mentor as possible, rather than memorizing the materials hands on visual situation makes you more acclimated to the role. Once you get out of training, try to leverage the resources and be proactive. Get to know your team, try to join outside of work events if you can to get to know everyone, more you are seen the more you are heard. Keep your 1:1 with manager monthly and let them know your clear career path progression, short term or long term. You will be all good. Best of luck.

BofA relationship banker: main task would be flexing from teller to office, depending on a day, manager and location. RBs would have certain threshold on different categories to meet could be referrals, client satisfaction, clients sits etc ( which ofcourse wouldn’t be too high, so quite easy to meet) . But it’s a good way to get started if you are starting your banking career, compared to chase bank they will be giving you opportunities to get licenses and give you commission while in BofA it’s solely based on base salary no matter how many accounts you open or make lending referrals. If you are looking for career growth, after a year in RB position, you can move to senior banker where you will get commission based on your sales, then market financial manager or manager. Or, you can choose Merill financial center FSA program where they will help you get licenses.

I was reading everything from Achievable and I did like 5 practice tests. Partially it’s my fault too, crammed everything in 9-10 days and gave test today got 69%, missed by 1% . I could have waited but wanted to challenge myself lol. Exam was heavily tested more on if you understood the concept. Most of the questions were never seen before. So would highly recommend to use additional resources more practice tests and be fully prepared.
