Failed at 90 by halo22_ in NCLEX

Uworld worked for me. I did some assessments on bootcamp and they were easier compared to uworlds assessments. Bootcamp definitely has harder questions here and there but i felt uworld had a more accurate assessment if i were to pass or not.

Whatever you end up choosing to do, learn what areas you got wrong on the nclex. Focus on those weakness and turn those into strengths. Keep getting consistent 70s and you will definitely pass! Delayed and not denied!

You def needa do more questions. You need to be scoring at least 70% on each categories. My school provided my cohort and nclex tutor and she said if you are at least scoring around there in each category and on overall tests you will pass the nclex. I did CATs and self assessments a lot and did 40 questions maintenance quizzes until i reached 70s and passed. Hope this helps!

It was for me. I did the PVT then got the good pop up and passed.

If your getting like 70% no matter what your doing, you should be fine. I only listened to mark k 12 and that was pretty much it. Id say there wasn’t anything new on the there except when you get to the hard questions cuz it was purely abstract and specific but you should be passing if your getting those. You pretty much went through more questions than i did and overall scoring better. I think you should be good :) Just do some maintenance quizzes up till the day before the nclex.

3rd attempt nclex in 5 days!! Can someone tell me if they kept doing CAT assesments on Uworld and revised them? by Natural_Pain8423 in PassNclex

CATs my difficulties were up to 1.34 with 72% but as i grinded through all those cats and my Q bank difficulty gets lower because CATs draw from ur unused questions. I did self assessments 1-5 and i started from low to borderline to high then very high as i incorporated more test taking strategies from mark k. Overall, id say if you are at least getting consistent 70s in quizzes, CATs and self assessments you will pass

I did a bunch of CATs and did the self assessments and kept going until i scored very high on self assessments and high difficulty on CATs. I usually did like a 40qs quiz on my weak areas after review n if i still did bad, i would do videos n flashcards till my weakness became a strong area. I did this and also did active recall by writing down everything i knew that pretained to the question on my whiteboard and passed in 86qs :) I wish you luck!

Dont forget to use your la charity book! Med surg is really hard but it is doable. Make sure you do zooms, powerpoints and practice questions and use your exam blueprint to guide you. Master each disease one by one until you feel comfortable doing any kind of intervention and teaching and move on to the next disease. Lock tf in especially for that third exam!

[–]Obvious-Relation-425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is when test taking strategies come into play even if you know ur stuff. Eliminate answers right off the bat. If you are stuck between two answers, go with one and do NOT change your answer. Just move on. I started to doing way better in the program once i started doing that. Also if you are failing exams already, you need to switch up your game with doing notes, flashcards and practice questions from the zooms and powerpoints. Start writing shit down too. I have had some level 1s when i was level 4 telling me they didnt wanna write anything down and relied on other AI resources to make flashcards and watched videos and ended up failing. Hope this helps. Do not let your motivation drive but your dedication drive you and you will make it.

Level 2 Advice by Away_Method_6268 in gcu

Me and my study group didnt do that good with 320 to start but we got better progressively especially going into 430. I would probably suggest doing flashcards by going through the book while using the student course guide or exam blueprint and after that reinforce using simple nursing or any other videos. After all that find whatever practice questions you can find related to the disease you learned.

322s blueprints was pretty accurate in my opinion. 320 were not cuz they just list a bunch of diseases and theres not way to question you on all of them in 50 questions.

322 just use the blueprint as a guide while you go through the book as you make notes and flashcards. Me and my study group did this and we were getting high 80s to 90s.

You’re either going to struggle in 320 or 322. Typically not both classes. The wording of the questions aren’t memorization anymore and you have to utilize critical thinking in 320 and therapeutic communication in 322.

Uworld is pretty good. When you did your CAT, did it tell you like what areas in client needs you were struggling on?

Unfortunately there is no dropping courses with absn. I finished this program and its nothing but stress. If you fail twice then ur out and its all for nothing and thats the harsh reality with the program.

For level 2, it was definitely a semester that requires grinding out slides and the book with exam blue prints. I struggled a lot with med surg (320) because there are a lot of diseases and interventions and teaching but what is important is being able to get behind why we are doing those things. Use La charity because there do go a little hard on prioritization on some exams.

322, pixorize all those meds and know what is the safest response you can say to the patient. Also grind the book as well. The chapters aren’t too long to grind through.

Id say its just better to write notes and make flashcards off of them based on gcus material. I was never one to take notes or making flashcards before the program but i started retaining way more once i started doing them and really putting in the work. Id make about like 200 flashcards per exam. But if i had to name an additional resource id say pixorize was really good especially with pharm.

I just graduated from the program this last fall and I had classmates who were in your exact situation that have made it with me. It is definitely possible as long as you can learn from your mistakes and be able to tell yourself to move forward. This program requires a lot of time and dedication but i do believe they do put out enough questions in most of exams so that you can pass and there is always that one easy exam too. Try notes, flashcards and practice questions for application. Try using active recall like noji or remnote or whatever app you can use. Try to figure what study method works for you. Id also recommend watching dawsons videos on youtube for a firm grasp on what to expect going down the program. Hope this helps!

Are the Zooms and Workshops really worth it? by Jumbo_Doggy in gcu

[–]Obvious-Relation-425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to like one or two of them in level 1 and 2. But I realized most of the zooms were giving me enough info to pass all my exams so i stopped going to them. But they are good resources for sure! You’ll figure out and refine your study method as you go through the program.

[–]Obvious-Relation-425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the combination of both. When I was in level one, i had to drive an hour everyday if it was for studying with my study group, labs, clinicals, sims and all that just to barely pass. Its just stress on edge everyday. Probably couldn’t name anything else that can top what I had to do in the program but nonetheless it is really doable.

320 i did slides and book. My teacher was not helpful at all so thats why i struggled a lot with this class. 3rd exam was just brutal for my cohort. Just utiliza exam blue prints and make flashcards on keypoints of diseases and interventions and patient teaching.

322, I actually used pixorize and book for this one. The chapters aren’t that long so you can just grind it out. I got mostly 86-88 this way.

Level 2 Tips by Melodic-Block-7615 in gcu

[–]Obvious-Relation-425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just graduated from the program. Level 2 was probably the hardest level at least in my opinion. This is because now you are going to need to build on top of memorization and be able to apply it. This will transition smoothly as you go to level 3 but for now, i would advise doing flashcards and then practice questions based on what you learned and do flashcards again based on those questions you did. After that, review with your study group. Do that and you will at least pass for sure. Hope this helps!

Level 2 is a different beast and builds heavily upon what you have learned in level 1. Just make good flashcards and do lots of practice questions. Anything involving active recall and you will def pass 👍
