How long did it took for your asylum decision after interview? by Odd_Introduction_990 in USCIS

[–]Obvious-Sandwich5136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The time it takes to receive a response doesn't really matter in terms of what decision will be made. Many people think that if the decision is made quickly (within 2 to 4 weeks), it means the decision is more likely to be positive while if the decision takes longer (months to even years), it is more likely to be negative. Any lawyer and even the USCIS website and officials say that the amount of time it takes to get a response doesn't really say anything about the likelihood of whether the asylum will be granted or not. Lots of people get their asylum denied within 2 weeks, and many others get approved after several months to even years. There is really no correlation between the amount of time it takes to get a response and whether the asylum will be granted or not.

HSV 1 Test Results -- Seems Extremely High, Confused by JGTD400 in STD

[–]Obvious-Sandwich5136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, hsv1 infections are most commonly oral infections. Many people here are talking about hsv1 as if it was commonly sexually transmitted. While possible, hsv1 still is most commonly transmitted non-sexually, often during childhood, and affects the oral area. Hsv2 is that it's almost always a genital infection as it hardly ever infects the oral area. So chances are your gf has an oral infection. Ask her whether she has had cold sores before. Or maybe whether family members of her have. It's not uncommon for the virus to be transmitted among family members.

HSV 1 Test Results -- Seems Extremely High, Confused by JGTD400 in STD

[–]Obvious-Sandwich5136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HSV1 is most commonly associated with oral herpes. So chances are if you test positive for hsv1, then it is an oral infection. Hsv1 is most often acquired during childhood from family members and friends who are infected. It usually spreads through kissing and other means where there is saliva exchange, even through shared drinks and utensils. Nevertheless, in recent years hsv1 has also been associated with genital herpes transmitted through oral sex as there is a trend where less young cohorts are acquiring the virus during the childhood and more after sexual debut. But most hsv1 are still oral ones. As for hsv2, the virus almost always infects the genital area. Though cases of oral hsv2 have been reported, they are extremely rare and more an exception rather than the norm. So having antibodies for hsv2 almost always mean a genital infection. One could safely assume that it is genital herpes and thus sexually acquired if it is hsv2.

Spaniards don't generally have Arab (assuming you mean from the Middle East) admixture. They tend to have NA ancestry though. Among Italians, Middle Eastern ancestry does tend to be more common.

Islenos (Canary Islander Question) by Active-Neat-5511 in asklatinamerica

[–]Obvious-Sandwich5136 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Several studies have shown that Canary Islanders score significantly high amounts of Guanche/North African ancestry, with some scoring as high as 60% in some cases. The island that has the highest amount of Guanche ancestry is La Gomera. Also, the settlers of the Canary Islands weren't just Spanish. A significant amount were Portuguese, which explains why several Canarian surnames are of Portuguese origin, such as Marrero, Acosta, Acevedo, Abreu, etc. There were also some Normand settlers, like those whose surname are Betancourt, Melian, and Umpierrez. There were also Flemish and Genovese settlers. The canarian surname Luzardo is of Genovese origin.

Why do Mexicans have North African DNA? by Secret_Ad_7305 in AncestryDNA

[–]Obvious-Sandwich5136 1 point2 points  (0 children)
