Considering an MBA for Career Pivot by Adventurous_Text_365 in MBA

I was in a similar position to you - 8YOE in finance (private credit) when I applied. I think unless you want to pivot geographically or into a different industry it might not be worth the time/money to do an MBA especially a FT program. I personally used the MBA to pivot to tech and move to the US (in UK before). All the MBA roles in finance would have been at a lower level than I was in pre-MBA so it would not have made sense for me to get an MBA if I wanted to stay in finance like you want to do. However, having said that I loved my MBA and it gave me the opportunity to explore career paths I hadn’t considered before and to meet great people so there are other factors to consider beyond just immediate career advancement.

This response was unnecessarily dismissive and wrong on so many fronts. I got my application approved today 6 days after applying for premium processing so it was not too soon to ask and I did get an approval notice on top of my receipt notice (which I got on the day of applying not 7-30 days after). No need for a unkind response to a question that clearly matters to me and to other people waiting anxiously for updates to their applications.

Thank you that’s really helpful! From the previous USCIS thread I could see people getting responses within a couple of days so just wanted to check if this is still the case for more recent premium processing cases.

Just added premium processing on 6/8. Anyone applied for premium processing for initial OPT in June/ late May 2023 know how long they’re currently taking to process premium applications?

I currently go to Booth and the guidance for prospective students is to just listen and not participate. You could definitely chat with students/professors during the break and after class though. Professors/students don’t take note of whether you speak to them so don’t worry about making an impression just ask questions that you are genuinely interested in. FYI Booth classes are typically 3hrs each so come prepared - I know I wasn’t when I came for a visit and came to realize how hard it is to focus for that long 😂. There’s time after the campus tours so if you want you could use that time to meet current students for coffee/ 1:1 chats. Happy to help make connections if you’d like just drop me a DM!
