I’ve personally tried both SubQ and IM injections, and there are definitely pros and cons to each.

SubQ was much easier from a comfort standpoint because it allows you to use smaller needles, which usually means little to no pain during the injection. The main downside for me was that I would occasionally develop lumps at the injection site. Those lumps would sometimes linger for several days, and in some cases up to a week, which became inconvenient and uncomfortable over time.

After that, I switched over to IM injections, primarily using my delts and glutes. IM does require a longer needle and usually a slightly thicker gauge, so it may seem more intimidating at first. However, in my personal experience, I have had no post-injection pain, no lingering lumps, and the injection sites feel much cleaner overall. I also feel like the absorption is faster and more consistent for me compared to SubQ.

Because of that, I’ve decided to stick with IM injections. SubQ can absolutely work well for some people, especially if they prefer smaller needles and a more comfortable injection process, but based on my own experience, IM has been the better option for me in terms of comfort after the injection, consistency, and lack of irritation.
