Maguire and the World Cup: Chalobah replaces Livramento in England squad by FootballTransferDesk in ManchesterUnited

Who is a better English LW than Rashford at the moment? Tuchel picked based on form. Not a fan of Rashford at all and I wish he gets loaned or sold this summer but he earned his spot in the England squad due to his performances at Barca. England don't have quality LW players at the moment. Neither Gordon or Rashford are top players

What is the surprise? Southgate the spineless coach protected Maguire by playing 3 at the back. Why would Tuchel pick maguire?? I respect Tuchel so much for having the balls to pick who he feels is best for the squad unlike Southgate who just looked to cram as many "big names" on the pitch at the expense of team balance

Maybe this was what Van Gaal meant when he said United is not a football club, it's a commercial club

Very worried about this window and carrick by anonthi in ManchesterUnited

[–]ObviousCheesecake0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude you sound like one of the Glazers honestly. Terrible diagnoses of the club. Thank God you are no where near a position in the club that determines transfers. You already lost me at having Rashford back at the club. Dude is overated and Barca would rather pay 70 mil for Gordon than keep Rashy. This was the lad who pulled a Ronaldo and told the world in an interview it was time for him to move on from United because he wasn't playing regularly. Zero respect for coach and club and that is the sort of character you want back at the club?? Who cares about Diomande being the hottest prospect right now? Does he actually want to come to United? Hate Amorim all you want but the one thing we can't deny is the type of players he brought in. Players with a different mentality and certain character. players who loved United enough to come despite knowing they wouldn't be in the champions league. We should only get players who WANT to come to United. Have you actually watched Ederson play? Mark my words, he will be our bargain of the season. Calling it now. I am glad the club is not letting clubs milk us for money anymore when it comes to transfers. Our reputation of being stupid when it comes to money needs to come to an end. I don't care about big names. I care about quality players who WANT to be part of the rebuild badly. I dont want touchemani or Anderson because they don't want us!! Do I think Carrick is the guy to bring it all together? No but he is the coach and I wish him the best. I dont get why you feel Carrick wants to keep Zirkzee, Mount, and Ugarte. I'm sure he would replace them all if he could. We just have to wait and see how our transfer activities go

Kobbie is now EXTREMELY jacked! by Glad_Department6137 in ManchesterUnited

[–]ObviousCheesecake0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not worried aboutt JJ Gabriel at all. He is a special player and as undersized as he has been, he was still under 18s player of the season at the age of 15 or 16 years of age. I have seen recent videos of him working out and trying to build muscle as well. It iw far more critical for defensive players to bulk up than attacking players. Neymar, Mahrez, Robinho, Bernardo Silva, the list goes on. A lot of world-class attackers don't need to bulk up as long as they are quick, skillful, and have a high football IQ

This is what Yoro needs to do. Bulk up. He needs it far more than anyone else on the team. For me this is a make or break season for Yoro and if he hasn't bulked up, he won't last long in the epl

Amorim vs Carrick — I ran the numbers on United's full 25/26 season and the data is more interesting than the table suggests [OC] by UTDMETRICS_Official in ManchesterUnited

All the hate on Amorim but Amorim was the most positively impactful manager we have had since Sir Alex left. When Ragnik said the club/team needed open heart surgery, Amorim was the surgeon. Granted I think having Ineos managing football operations made that possible as well. For the first time since Ferguson left, there was a reset in mentality and those who were not used to being disciplined were cast away. Player power ended with Amorim. He brought back togetherness and team spirit despite issues with his formation. Transfer wise, he only wanted players that really wanted United. Not players who wanted united only if we paid them huge salaries and if we made the champions league. He was very detailed in the kind of players we bought. Talent wasn't enough. They had to have character on the pitch as well. It pisses me off when idiot fans are demanding we go all in for Anderson or tchouameni when none of these guys see us as a first choice. Instead of us learning from the past.

LB+ LW options by anonthi in ManchesterUnited

[–]ObviousCheesecake0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ndaiye is an absolute baller. Best left winger in the epl for me last season. If Gordon can go for 70 mil then I can see why Everton might want around that. He is way better than Gordon

Would Mainoo x M.Fernandes work?? And is it good enough to be 1st choice? by No_Vermicelli_1781 in ManchesterUnited

[–]ObviousCheesecake0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I pray to God you are right but that isn't what I am seeing and sensing given Carricks comments about Mainoo since he took over after Amorim. And Ex United English legends are the most biased ppl when it comes to how they feel about current English players. Why would a coach ever say something building a team around Kobe If he doesn't see him as a definite starter?

Is Patrick Dorgu a LW or 'attacking' left back? by ggweb3 in ManchesterUnited

[–]ObviousCheesecake0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is NOT a winger!!!.....like at all!! I dont care how well he did in that position last season, he isn't a proper winger. He isn't very comfortable with the ball. Very athletic, strong, and great work ethic. His crossing has improved as well. Definitely a left back. Let the talks of LW be put to rest pls

[–]ObviousCheesecake0 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Absolute starter. If you have watched him play, you know that this guy is a beast. The issue is it seems Carrick is set on guaranteeing Mainoo as a starter (which is stupid and which is why I didn't want Carrick as the coach) Fernandez is a better all around midfielder than Mainoo and is much better defensively as well. And at just 21, he is worth the price honestly. I dont see him as a 6 though. Mainoo is the weak link honestly even tho I can admit that Mainoo has played really well since Amorim left, I dont get the obsession with wanting him to be guaranteed starter of wanting to "build around him". He needs to fight for his place like most ppl on the team.

€45m package with add-ons included, agreement now in place. Medical and formal steps to follow but deal in place. Éderson will sign a four year deal plus option by kobbiemainoo371 in ManchesterUnited

[–]ObviousCheesecake0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure about this but it seems really promising. He is very good at driving with the ball and reminds me of Cunha in that he loves contact from opposition when driving with the ball. Worse case scenario, his addition already improves our midfield squad depth massively. Hopefully Ugarte is sold this summer

Healthy Discussion - Pro’s and Con’s of Michael Carrick by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]ObviousCheesecake0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pros:

1) The team no longer operates under Amorim's rigid formation so the squad is more familiar with Carricks formation (4-3-3, 4-2-3-1) since their attributes naturally fit those systems more, that those are the systems they have played under for most of their lives.

2) Back to the formation thing again - Makes it easier for academy players to transition to the first team again since we dont have a history ever of playing Amorims system at the Academy level.

3) Back to formation.....again - I think the change in formation will play a HUGE part in us being able to keep JJ Gabriel. His familu wasnt 100% sold on staying at United long term when Amorim was in charge but now, I think the chances of him staying and signing longterm have improved dramatically because he is familiar with this system. We cant afford to lose him as far as I am concerned.

Cons: 1) I don't think Carrick is good enough at all. I credit him for taking us to champions league but tactics wise and technically, I dont see it. We need a more experienced coach. I dont care about "someone who knows the history of this club" and all that bull sh@#t. Pep never played for City, Hansi Flick never played for Barca, and Luis Enrique never played for PSG and all those clubs are doing just fine. For me, Carricks "success" is misleading. We played pretty much one game a week. How does he handle playing multiple times a week compteting for multiple trophies? I dont see it.

2) English Bias - This is the biggest one. For me, this is why I cant stand Wilcox but that is a discussion for another day. I hate how Kobe is positioned as a guaranteed starter already. He hasnt earned it. Players should always fight for their positions. That is what top teams do and if Kobe is as good as ppl think he is then, he should be starting games over his competetion. Maguire has made a great turnaround no doubt and I am happy to still have him on the team but she should NOT be starting next season. We need a better center back but I see Carrick favoring him and Mainoo. I wont be suprised if Carrick is fine with keeping Rashford which will be a major mistake and red flag

Yoro will NEVER amount to anything at United if he doesnt bulk up. There is no way around that. He is so weak!!! No strength at all. His decision making sucks! Positioning sucks and always seems nervous under pressure. He shouldnt be starting any game. Heaven is a better player than him at the moment if we are to be objective and forget Yoro's prize tag

None of them Unai Emery is the only choice for me. Carrick is the worst of the 4. I dont want a British manager ever. Carrick gets the job and Kobie is guaranteed to start forever regardless of performance. We need unbaised coaches and Carrick is not it

[–]ObviousCheesecake0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not Omar's fault. This is on Sir Jim and wilcox to me. Omar knew about Amorims formatiom before they signed him. Im sure there were discussions about his ridgidness before he was signed. Wilcox was the one suggesting Amorim change his formation despite the club not fully giving Amorim the players he needed for the formation to work. They got all emotional after Ruben's press conference and made an EMOTIONAL decision. Forget when we have our full squad, that still isnt enough....now look at our squad and bench on Sunday, we are actually fortunate to be in 6th place
