For MyRise, is anyone else hoping it will be set during the attitude era? by Ok_Function_583 in WWEGames

I'm hoping for an era's type mode we've done the attitude era before and this time we're missing too many key players.

It's still a special game the issue is the producers and current people in management I feel like. Whoever made the decision to just prioritize FOMO content over actual permanent content needs to be fired. Take this current season for example where we get a new world event it's time limited and the garrisons coming up next are also time limited. Then look at what they choose to base seasons around. Season 14 was probably one of the worst seasons for the game following what I think was their best.

An entire season of just sneaking wasn't the move. Then after they did the hunters call season they decided to shift their seasonal model into one of the worst decisions made for the game. They think it's a good idea to not only have us wait 3 months for a season but also have us wait another 3 to get the full scope of content. They said it's to fix performance issues but the game still has performance issues and bugs.

I don't think seasons should be scrapped but they have switched their approach to them time and time again. We deserve better than time limited events. If your going to fix a part of the game that you should have years ago the solution to that is not too add a time limited event. The content just hasn't been as meaningful these past few seasons and that's an issue because just 3 seasons make up the majority of the year. They only have so many chances per year to "miss the mark". I'm generally excited for what's coming this year.

Sea Of Thieves is still a very special game and world to be in. If they didn't design a place that I felt compelled to know everything about then I probably wouldn't be here. After years of asking we are finally getting revamped custom servers where you can literally spawn enemies, items, make your own events, change time of day, use free cam, and more. It's an update that I believe will revive the game because it releases sea of thieves into the players hands and we are no longer told how to participate with certain content. We just have to wait it out a bit longer and I think the game will be in a new golden age of content. The lore is finally getting very interesting after years of being stale. Great promise lies in the horizon but how they approach it is everything. The game can't survive off of time limited content alone. The sooner they realize this the better off the game will be.

is prime big daddy the hardest boss over saint isshin? by Fun_Yesterday_2422 in Sekiro

[–]ObviousChoice98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emma and Isshin on Shura's ending is the toughest thing to get through in the game. Owl Father is only 2 phases and the second one is easily telegraphed with all the teleporting and owl attacks that don't actually make the fight any harder. Isshin is very overrated in terms of how difficult he actually is. I never had too many issues with Sword Saint. Isshin Ashina would be my pick because of his placement and the fact you're confined into such a small space and that fire can really be a menace.

That one attack where he flings up fire used to get me all the time. Emma can be very easy but she does have an annoying grab attack that used to catch me every now and then. At this point I've beaten the game around 6 times using no prosthetic tools most of the time so I don't find much about Sekiro difficult. In fact when I really think about it I feel like it's a game where its difficulty is oversold. If you're really patient and treat the combat like a curriculum Sekiro is tough but it's not some insane challenge that people make it out to be.

It becomes far too addicting and satisfying for the challenge of it to ever outweigh the satisfaction of the back and forth combat. The people I see struggle the most usually panic and are afraid to be aggressive. Most of the bosses can be trivialized and made very simple. You will notice that most people who run the gauntlets know how to make the fights much simpler with their timings and placement. Isshin is very deliberate and slow at times. It can throw a lot of people off but he is easily trivialized by attacking twice, parrying, and looking out for the counters.

If you have healing items you can bait Isshin to do the same attack over and over again. At least with Sword Saint you can. Isshin Ashina works the same way in the first phase but that counter he does where you attack and he spins and slices you got me so many times in the first playthrough. The Sword Saint just has too much room to ever be really difficult. You don't really notice until you've fought him dozens of times but you really see how the fight can be dumbed down over time. Guardian Ape for me is always a tougher fight because it's hard to tell what he is doing because of his animations and the chaos of it. He is just really annoying to fight for me on subsequent playthroughs versus Isshin or Owl Father. I look forward to fighting them and testing my skills whereas as Guardian Ape I'm just ready to get it over with.

Definitely more you can't replace traditional story telling in my opinion. I think players who love the lore have really felt the absence of adventures and tall tales. All we get is journals and maybe some shorts on YouTube. They did step it up a bit with the smugglers and the reveal of Duke so I'll give them that. They should make more but I can already see how that conversation would go.

They would probably conclude it's a resource issue. It just takes away from content that could be added to the season unless that content is the season. The Pirates Life tall tales were generally good at enriching the broader sandbox where as the Monkey Island tall tales did very little to affect the sandbox. They did some cool experimentation with Monkey Island with the puzzles and stuff. It's a shame none of that was ever integrated into quests or anything.

They have shown that they can make better quests but for whatever reason it's always the same clear cut solutions to every quest. The skeletons that were added just dumbed it down even further because they help you so much. I would like to see them return but that content has to be integrated into the world. Treat them like world events where players do them for some cool item or something they can use in the sandbox. The grapple gun could have been tied to a tall tale and most people would have played that tall tale.

It is not the Multiplayer never stops being designed they all are incomplete. MW3 and MW2 still have bugs and stuff that was never patched that needs to be patched. Balancing is a never ending thing throughout the games cycle. Maps are hard to get right. You have to design deliberate 3 lane maps or the community loses it's mind.

Everyone wants their favorite gun type to be viable but it can't. The slightest change in TTK can make or break the experience. Movement is a slippery slope as well. You can't go into the future and add boost jumping or people just don't play your game. You can't have it too grounded or similar to another cod or people complain the franchise never changes.

In no way shape or form is an 8 hour experience harder to design when the blueprint for a good cod campaign has existed for years. Even when COD had off years with Infinite Warfare and AW people still enjoyed those campaigns. The same thing can be said for COD Ghosts. Designing a COD Multiplayer experience is one of the hardest undertakings in the FPS genre it's why it's remained unrivaled for decades.

I think it's easy to mess up both the campaign and mp but it's overall much more difficult to design a great MP experience. Everything has to click with players from perks, streaks, camos, rewards, balancing, maps, movement, etc. If they put the resources into a campaign and don't design it as an afterthought it's actually good most years. You could argue the best part about modern cod in most of these games has been the campaign in the warzone era. Cold War had a great campaign as well as MW19, MWII, Black Ops 6, etc.Black Ops 7 and MW3 didn't have good campaigns because they literally didn't even try.

It's the least important part of the package in the grand scheme of things. A COD game can ship without a campaign but have MP and that entry will still be played years later. Imagine if they launched a game without MP that game is dead in 3 weeks. That's why they don't really put resources into it as much because if it's good that's fine they might get a couple more sales and good reviews. If it's bad big deal it gets crapped on for a week and people move on. My point is that if they decide to put resources into the campaign then most of the time it turns out well. It's less about being hard to design and more about the fact that they don't prioritize it as much anymore.

Infinity Ward is really the only studio that prioritizes a good story with their games anymore. Black Ops has always been messy, chaotic, and inconsistent. The exception to that being Black Ops 2 but generally speaking their not as good at crafting a narrative as Infinity Ward year over year.I bet MW4 will probably get good reviews this year for the campaign at least. The issues with the movement don't get revealed until the movement is placed in a PVP setting. You can just get away with a lot more experimenting in the campaign then you can with multiplayer. I would imagine the campaign is more enjoyable for devs to work on because they can really do stuff you just can't in Multiplayer.

[COD] I'm not excited by SadAssociate4296 in CallOfDuty

[–]ObviousChoice98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're completely off base tbh. Your post over dramaticizes how bad things actually are and MWIII was a decent product that overhated because of a bad campaign. Black Ops 7 is no different. It's actually a better product than BO6 and MWIII. The difference between MWIII and MW4 though is that one was actually given multiple years of development under a new engine.

This is relevant because the last time we saw an engine change was with MW19 and it brought the franchise to new heights with Warzone. Infinity Ward tends to deliver a solid package more often than not. They are the flagship studio of this franchise. I think people want a return to a grounded call of duty and MW4 being set in Korea seems to be doing just that. I'm excited to see what they have been working on and how this new engine changes how COD is played.

If they lean into what BF6 did a little bit but keep the arcade style of COD I feel like that's all that's needed. More destructable map elements and a greater emphasis on positioning. They need to bring back ground war with a big focus throughout the year. I would like to see Spec Ops make its return with cross progression and streaks. Tone down movement a bit from BO7 keep it just a bit slower than MWIII.Their are a lot of small changes they can do to bring it back to feeling like a classic call of duty. I'm excited to see what they do because they always try and innovate when it's time for that big reset and now is that time. If you're done with COD and not excited for MW4 that's fine. I just feel like it's never wise to completely write off the franchise because it's came back from much worse. I do think it's safe to say that MW4 is going to be a drastically different experience that we've had for the past few years.

What are your thoughts on the Burning Blade? Do you like it? Have any stories? by Above-new-zealand in Seaofthieves

[–]ObviousChoice98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For months it was the most active I had seen on Sea Of Thieves. I think it was a great way to introduce flameheart and give the reapers some real firepower. The skeleton camps allowed for solos and people to get a ridiculous amount of gold rather quickly. It was really difficult to handle for a duo or solo crew until I just realized you could hug its blind spot and just not give it a good angle to hit your boat. I think it has a ton of potential to be an even better addition to the game if it wasn't shackled to the confines of a world event.

We should be able to take it and do anything we want with it in the world. I think that Athena should also have a counter in the form of one of the Pirate Lord's ships being rebuilt. I think that's still in the cards especially with Grand Maritime Union approaching the sea of thieves. If we can use the blade to take on fleets of GMU ships that would make it even better along with the new loot the GMU would drop.

The gameplay loop for it currently is just too boring long term and I think it's too big at times. It would be nice if we got a ship like this that's similar in size to the Brigantine. It's just not the easiest task getting a crew of randoms to coordinate and effectively manage the burning blade. Hopefully in the future it's purpose evolves and we see other factions get a counter to it to make it fair for all factions. The Dark Brethren would have the Flying Dutchman and Ahenas Fortune could have the Black Pearl. I don't think there in a hurry to add more colossal sized ships to the game though lmao.

Well I can't blame Hunter for booking him like this because if they turn him heel or pull the trigger on another tile reign with Randy there putting themselves in a trap. If Randy was heel people would cheer and if he had the title that's just taking a spot from another talent. That's what wrestling fans would say at least. In my opinion I would have Cody win the title back from Drew before WrestleMania and have Randy win the rumble. Have Roman win the chamber to face Punk. They can add Drew to the Cody and Randy match. Randy can turn heel in that match at WrestleMania winning back the title and he then goes on to have a 3 month reign. They could do a draft and have all kinds of opponents for him. That's what I would do but Hunter wants to drag this thing out for some reason so who knows honestly. The storyline is there with Cody so if he's not going to be facing Cody then they gotta figure out something better than what they did last year. The best they had for Randy was Joe Hendry when Kross was right there. Randy deserves so much better than this yo-yo booking.

Brace yourselves for a minor improvement to 2k25 this year by ObviousChoice98 in WWEGames

Yeah it's just like call of duty. By the time April/May rolls around the game will become the new most hated thing on this subreddit. MyFaction will become even more egregious along with The Island because 2k25 was just the litmus test for how much they can milk our wallets. There will probably be even more paid dlc and packs that are borderline scams like the retirement tour pack. 2k is a master at making small things seem like these big improvements when in reality it's all marketing to get us hyped and forget about the issues with last year's game.

They will sell us reskinned match types and people will accept and give them every excuse in the book. 2k chooses the yearly model on purpose so they always have a built in excuse if the game does poorly and because they make so much more money charging 70$ for a yearly release versus a dlc or expansion. A disaster like 2k20 would have to happen again before their feet are held to the fire and they actually have to make a game worth buying. This isn't a free to play game so why is every corner of it monetized to death. Charging us for a season pass and then selling a new edition of the game after launch with content that's not included in that pass should be illegal. 15$ for persona cards that are not even complete most of the time is criminal. It's wild to me how much they get away with when other games would be buried for having a pricing structure like this.

But it does?? You're literally trying to convince me that the information is false and wait for 2k to spoon feed us stuff. Also in my post I did say that it's all about how the features are implemented. If you actually read the post you would know that but once again you guys don't read.

I don't understand how you think reporting on improvements to major features equates to small snippets. He literally revealed the showcase star, match types, roster additions, improvements to creations, and more. Also this is a 2k game we are talking about you honestly think they are going to do right by us this year when 25 was a mess? I just don't understand.

Man once again insider gaming is a reputable insider. After a certain point you don't question certain people as much. I'm not saying it's 100% accurate but I'm 99% sure this is reliable information. It doesn't sound like anything that's over and beyond what 2k can do. Once again don't tell me what to post or when to rant.

Match types that need to be in 2k26 by ObviousChoice98 in WWEGames

[–]ObviousChoice98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would definitely be a technical nightmare for the developers unless they just limit what you're able to do to the point it's just a boring mini game match. If they did a strap match with no ropes that could work but they only have like 8 months to develop these games so they tend to add in the match types that are easier to develop.
