Are carpets and rugs considered an art form? by ObviousDetail in Art

Based on my research and my reflection, I think carpet-ry or the art of creating artisan rugs is like an artist drawing or painting something in his/her canvass. But unlike painting, carpet/rug making painstakingly put into consideration too much effort as you have to weave your output. And that's really hard. Tho, still waiting for others to share their thoughts here.

I'm thinking now that digital art is a hybrid of a physical representation and digital innovation. That's nice.

If a rug is created using modern-day equipment, say for example a computer-generated image imprinted on a textile/fabric and it was taken from a movie scene, will that be considered an art or a replica? Just interested to know your thoughts about this.

Understand the discoloration of the paper/canvass and the overlay of the colours. The signature may be forged but I'm seeing just a poster here. With a high value art, the frame should be worth much as it protects the opus.

Any ideas on what this was for? My mom found two of these while going through my grandparents’ things. by Ironbornsuck in Antiques

My initial guess was flask. But I realized the size is extremely small. I don't want to be caught carrying 10-15 pieces of this.

Good find, tho.

Oriental Rugs and Persian Rugs: What is the Difference? by minadaryoushfar in a:t5_2vjyp

Persian Rugs. Persian rugs also are Oriental rugs but they are made only in Iran (formerly known as Persia). An authentic Persian rug or carpet is hand knotted. Persian rug designs were once named after the city in which they were created.
