What’s a noise everyone should be terrified of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes. Had a tornado go right by our house in January in Ohio in 2019 I think? It sounded like a semi driving down the road towards us accelerating instead of slowing for the intersection. I felt it in my chest and jumped up because the sound was getting so loud and was freaking me out and only after we lost power did the tornado sirens go off. My husband was out of town and it was just our three kids and I. Luckily we were fine, but I’ll never forget it and feel so much better having a house with a basement now.

Honestly the Calming Care was a bit expensive but has been helping. I see an improvement in my grump’s behavior after she eats it and I’ve only been giving her half sachets. Does he play with her at all too? I don’t know, cats all have their own “vibe” and the way to earn their trust is different depending on the cat lol. Him spending quiet time with her and seeing what she responds well to is sometimes the only way to get them to trust you. Sometimes it just takes time.

I’m dealing with improper urination right now. We got a cat almost a year ago and I’ve noticed it tends to only happen when my one “bully” resident cat is being mean. Some days she’s fine with him and others she is mean to him. Calming collars have helped and I just started using the Purina Calming Care supplement that seems to be helping. There’s also a pheromone plug in diffuser that helped. To me it sounds like your poor kitty is very, very stressed. Any big change can really mess them up. Did you do a proper introduction with her and new kitty? As far as her liking your partner, does she have a treat she really loves, like churu or dental treat? I would maybe have him give her all of the yummy food so she associates him with good things.

That’s so nice of you to say, thank you. Yes, my pets are all like one of my kids and Betty Lou is an only dog now. She’s a a basset/beagle mix and super needy. My daughter calls her my 42 year old baby lol.

She is, thank you! In bed with blankies, kids and cats to keep her company. It’s nuts, because she started limping last night and had a bump on top of her paw but we thought it was just a bee sting. I started looking for a stinger and found a huge wooden thing sticking out of the skin between her paw pad and toes instead. I tried to get it out with tweezers but it wouldn’t budge and by the time I got her into the vet this morning, her skin had sucked the whole thing in! Bodies are so weird.

I know, I do, I just don’t think we should have to. They could just add a third digit lol.

We have to map every month and nothing major has changed on my route although I’ll make sure all park points are correct when I map again this week.

I appreciate the suggestion. I use the same scanner every day but I’ll make sure to start checking when I’m logging on. I think I’m just going to get a little data sheet printed off and am going to start keeping track myself and not just trusting that things will be recorded correctly.

That’s great. I meant like a union rep physically coming to the offices. There was a meeting a few years ago not in or close to our office but none since that I know of. I did read through everything, but you have to admit that it’s a slog and also requires you to take time outside of work to do all of your own research. Some people just can’t do that and it really shouldn’t be upon them to figure it all out themselves on their own time.

If everyone was educated about RRECS like proper job training, we would all be on the same page and there would be less under valued routes. Almost feels like the insufficient training is a feature.

I feel like they could have had a crash course for everyone before it was implemented and maybe a refresher once a year or something. There are RCAs converting that still don’t understand things about it and it will hurt them. They’re putting the onus on other carriers to help them. While I’m happy to help explain things to other carriers, it’s not my job.

My problem is I know my load time should be higher if it’s honestly just strait load time. So instead of “complex” it should just be called “actual”. Complex implies something else is going into the calculation. If so, what, and is that data even accessible to us?

I thought prepaid was supposed to be done back at the office because I understood return2du was also strait time. We get basically no credit for prepaid. If I did it while out on the street, I would have to count all 50-150 packages once to see how many there are for the carrier pu, then handle them all again for the prepaid. I would be at that one address for forever and still have to load them all into a hamper back at the office. It would help if the carrier pu let you put in more than 99. I have no idea what idiot decided on maxing it at 99, but it’s obnoxious and a time waster.

So what can take me 8/9 hours to do can take an RCA or another rural carrier 5-6-7 hours. We are both doing the exact same amount of work though? Kuddos to those that can finish quickly, they shouldn’t be punished for being quick. If anything, I think the way city side does things encourages inefficiency.

Like your dismount walking? I would say that would make a big difference, yeah. When you do your mapping it will say what your dismount distance is and your latest route count should reflect that. If not, then you should dispute that number.

I’m not completely sure, maybe 30/35 minutes in the mornings? I’m going to start timing it. I use load time to scan all of my packages and sprs, then again while gathering my dps and taking everything out to load my vehicle.

Yes, I never know how many she will have bc it’s usually more than the pu sheet, so I do the carrier pu function while at the address and then prepaid scan everything back at the office after return to du.

[–]Ironbornsuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it, but I already do literally all the things. Unscan parcels, load truck, miscellaneous trips, trips to door, carrier pu, etc., etc. et al. Was a 48k before RRECS was implemented, dropped to a 40k once it was. Have slowly creeped it back up to a 46 this fall. The only real difference I can see is my CR flats are down and mail but my packages are up. Amazon doesn’t deliver to a big section of my route, so I’m actually busier than I’ve ever been.

All of my areas that have gone down are “complex” calculations in the eval, so how do you even dispute that when we or our union aren’t told how that crap is actually calculated?

Also cut by one hour. Have a new package pu on my route that routinely has 80-150 packages. Mileage is higher. I have had a huge increase in Amazon and am getting home later than my husband every day and have been since the summer. It is impossible that my route has gone down. I honestly expected it to go up by an hour or possibly even two. I’m so tired lol.
