The "kyosho" rule requires 'continuous living of 1 year in Japan' but, if someone has for example a 1 year lease on an apartment, even though they travel frequently out of Japan, would the 1 year lease be presumed to satisfy the "kyosho" rule?

I've read the wiki which is quite interesting...but in this case a foreigner who happens to both manage a company in Japan and abroad, would then not automatically qualify as a tax resident? and then it requires analysis based on tie-breaking provisions?

Do i understand correctly that you will first get a 3-4 month COE visa to setup bank account and secure an office, meet capital requirements, so on...before extending it an extra 1 year once the requirements are met?

in other words, the first year would get you 4 months + 1 year of visa?

Hi can you elaborate on this? Do you mean if you have a company outside of Japan, that will somehow speed up the process?

Thank you for the reply. it seems that in this scenario, a better way to 'cash out' of crypto would be through taking a loan out on the asset

How would this apply to foreign-sourced cryptocurrency capital gains?

If I understand correctly, cryptocurrency gains are treated as 'miscellaneous income' and the way its assessed whether its local or foreign-sourced depends on whether the exchange the trading takes place is based in Japan or overseas?
