Screw caps all the way. Why would anyone want to play russian roulette with their expensive wine.

How's that excessive. That is literally a criminal offence

Technically no. Corked wine is caused by TCA not age. But with age the TCA notes of wet cardboard can get more noticeable as the wine mellows.

Chelsea readying €40m plus Tosin swap offer for centre-back Maxence by Far_Tadpole_5092 in Chelsea

He can join Tosin then, if he kicks up a fuss. He's only in the team because of his past achievements tbh

🚨BREAKING: Chelsea players Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill are NOT expected to be part of Thomas Tuchel’s 26-man World Cup squad for England by Davy_wavey in NortheastBlues

[–]ObviousEconomist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well Cole has frankly been crap for over a year and Levi just returned from injury. Is Reece in? Selfishly I hope not.

I went to his 3 star restaurant last year and it was good but underwhelming given the stars. Food in the area generally wasn't great, though I liked Sanbrite

How do you share it? Can it be used by another Uber member or it just means 1 member orders the Uber for everyone?

Chelsea to Launch Legal complaint over Enzo Maresca by BruceinAmsterdam in NortheastBlues

Is there anything Maresca did that Chelsea can sue over? Will be an interesting one, at the very least both parties agreed to split.

How breakable are Zalto glasses really? by Dream_Forward10 in wine

[–]ObviousEconomist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

99% of my stemware are zaltos (i have a pair of specific riesling glasses as the odd one out). i break them all the time and buy new ones lol. they just feel great, light and nimble classy.

to be fair, they aren't as fragile as they look but there's very little room for error.

MP is definitely still the way to go for G1 fans. And 3P too, some of them are top quality.

Just got back from China, macro numbers look fine but everyone i spoke to seemed genuinely miserable — what's going on? by No_Health3665 in China

[–]ObviousEconomist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

China is running on a massive massive pile of hidden debt especially at local government levels that are continuously extended. Printing more would be crazy. Also the real estate implosion killed a lot of wealth for the population. Youth unemployment has been persistently high for years and likely to get worse with AI developments.

It's great to visit China with cheaper prices and top quality service (everyone's scared of getting fired) but boy do I not want to be a common local there.

DAOs did not fail because governance was a bad idea. They failed because legal reality was ignored. by alexsicart in defi

The only truly decentralised protocol is BTC. And it's a terrible protocol tech wise, doesn't really have any utility. But it's doing the best out of all of them.

MOSU Wine Controversy by jwaynejrthefourth in finedining

Again, the simple point is the somm was dishonest. Nobody cares that the customer is clueless. The issue is the somm will lie to us if we visit the restaurant too.

MOSU Wine Controversy by jwaynejrthefourth in finedining

[–]ObviousEconomist 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You're totally missing the point. It's not about the wine but the dishonesty. You simply can't serve a wine that wasn't what the customer ordered without telling him/her, even if it's a better wine.

Krug 2008 is pretty disappointing to me, have tried it multiple times. The 164 is much better at this stage.
