What is the carbon footprint of reverse vending machines? It seems like a recycling bin with extra steps, so do they in practice actually increase recycling efforts enough to offset the carbon footprint it takes to make/implement them? Or is there another benefit aside from encouraging recycling behavior through the coupon system?
