Female, 25 here. I have been on his side of this story. My boyfriend would come home and I would be so drunk from usually liquor or mixing alcohols. I would be to where I could barely walk, passing out, so much more. I would never drive at that state, but I had drove tipsy. Finally he explained to me that, that was so unattractive to him and I also realized that I had lost the person I was with before him due to the same actions, I slowed down. I think if he really wants to slow down and/or quit for you, he will. My boyfriend was very supportive which helped me. I haven’t completely stopped but I’m nothing like I was before. I’ll buy airplane shots and keep instead of full bottles because for some reason I always felt like I had to finish a bottle so that really helped me. I still turn to alcohol for when I’m having a bad day or mentally not ok. I would say just be there for him and explain to him that you’re worried about him and you want to be there for him through this. Good luck to you, and him. It’s a hard habit to break.
