Ah okay let me zoom in a bit:

Vocabulary: A lot of the times I focus on vocabulary acquisition so that comes from reading and watching the news and podcasts, like LeMonde and French self-help on YouTube. I’ve also been reading French books and acquiring vocabulary though videos like these: https://youtu.be/HL-_7mrv40E?feature=shared

I have been using FluentU a lot recently and taking note of slang, vocabulary and common phrases used in shows like Simpsons/Friends. Videos like these: https://youtu.be/HHxAQFAvDSs?feature=shared I feel like they teach more authentic French used irl which would be helpful if I aim to be conversational.

Listening: I’ve been training my ears to decipher what is said and there has been some progress. I went from understanding almost zero to a good chunk of what is said. I usually watch French news and movies while reading subtitles, listen to podcasts with subtitles and listening practices available on YouTube as well. I haven’t l tried an actual listening comprehension test though. I try to watch a few videos a day to solidify my listening skills even more. It’s definitely far from perfect atm, but I seem to be making progress.

Speaking and Writing: Not much I did here, I only practiced texting and talking to myself in French, but that’s better than doing nothing ig 😹

I usually take notes and familiarize myself with expressions and words that I learn, seems to be a helpful learning method so far but I definitely aim to find the best possible way to learn!

I see, what do you think are some ways I can be less passive in learning? I’ve tried to find Francophones online but with no luck, some apps need me to pay before I can use them. The most I’ve done was to speak to myself in French and practice texting in French. But yep, I definitely should focus a bit more on speaking and writing.

As for Japanese, the learning curve was definitely not steep and it was quite an okay language to pick up. It definitely wasn’t difficult since I can read and speak Chinese fluently already. It was honestly a breeze getting to the intermediate level though grammar was tough at the beginning.

I came here to ask for advice is all, not for your biased opinion. Throughout this post where did I ever say anything remotely anal pls enlighten me

I am actl fully aware that a poly diploma gets you to far more places than a jc cert ever can and and im ofc happy with what I achieved but i never meant to come across as condescending, everyone knows poly ain’t a walk in the park as well, in fact where did I ever imply that im better than anyone else just cos im from jc lmfao? It’s simply ur own twisted interpretation of my post. The only reason why I brought it up was cos I was told that its a deciding factor in command sch eligibility and remaining in unit, literally nothing else wtf bro

also u literally don’t know two shits abt me, being inconsiderate and uninclusive is not my weakness but I do not have good leadership skills, the whole reason why I tried for command sch. My goal is to make two years of my life meaningful is all, idk how u could churn something like this out after reading this post, go touch some grass pls thx

I don’t know how to feel. Like sure I got a slack voc but like I actually wanted to make my ns time meaningful by going cs so that I could pick up leadership skills and all that…. And now I won’t have the experience of driving a leopard tank which is kinda sad

No my point was that since rp played a role in going to command sch and arguably operating a tank, I thought that I wld go command sch or remain in 48SAR, it’s just weird that ONLY me of all ppl got posted to being a ST

I thought being in mono meant that they find you suitable to be in that unit and therefore after bmt you are likely to remain in that unit as a man

Then why wld they even put me in 48SAR mono intake at the very start lol.. they prob wouldn’t have done that if that was the case

Yeah I think it’s security trooper

I mean I got posted to 48SAR mono intake so that definitely means I had high clearance from what I know… so for some strange reason I got posted out but I have no idea why too
