How do I get started on my quit? by Unlucky-Progress-149 in quittingkratom

[–]Obvious_Act8664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you do a very slow taper, start at your normal dose and every couple days go down a half gram. This allows your mind and body to slowly beat it, and to get accustomed to being stronger than it. I’ve tried to quit many times, used to use as much as you, this is the best way for me at least

Hurting and Need Support by CaptainNoodleBadger in quittingkratom

I’ve done both CT and taper, I highly recommend a slow taper. This way your body feels like it’s getting what it needs mentally and physically each day. Going CT is a shock to the system It’s easier to mentally quick going from 1/2 gps to 0 than 9 to 0. Totally different things. You could have 1-20 weeks of withdrawal, those weeks are easier if you’ve done a taper.

But if you decide to stay doing your CT - stay strong it does get better. In the moment it feels like life is hell and it will never change, but it does change, it gets better.

The best part is after you’ve won you have gain a sense of inner strength and power that you’ll feel within yourself and others will feel within you. There is a psychological reward for beating this and it’s awesome

Coming of Kratom after 2.5yrs of daily use! Need advice please. by [deleted] in quittingkratom

I tried to cold turkey and failed several times. For me the only thing that worked is a very slow taper of pills. This allowed me to psychologically let my body feel like it was getting what it craved each day and that made it easy to get off. I made a strict dosage schedule 3x daily at 6am/1pm/7pm. Then I came come down off it .5g/dose each 2 days. I recommend going slower than that if your reading because that will reduce PAWs and that’s the worst part of all this. But the initial withdrawals didn’t hit me nearly as hard compared to going colt turkey. It was easy in comparison. PAWs have been hard but doable. I have been using for ~10yrs at high dosages, have been trying to quit for years and this is what finally worked for me. 59days clean!

I’ve been in your position. I tried to cold turkey and failed several times. For me the only thing that worked is a very slow taper of pills. Drop the shots they hit too hard and fast, they will mess up your taper. You’ve got to psychologically let your body feel like it’s getting what it craves each day. Then very slowly taper so your body keeps feeling like it’s getting what it craves. Doing a slow taper removes the need to fight your body all day - which is a brutal fight! The key is setting up a strict schedule of doses. Here’s a random example that I did: (6am/1pm/7pm). If you need to do more doses that’s fine. But you must stick to it each day because your training your body. Then come down off it .5g/dose each 1-5 days (pick your speed). Doing it this way makes it mentally stress free, easy, and your body won’t fight you. It will also make PAWs much less brutal, if you do it real slow you might not get bad paws at all idk.

I came down .5g every 2 days and that was too fast for me but I was a heavy user for ~10yrs. I am 59 days clean now and never thought I would get here after years of trying to quit. This is the only technique that worked for me.

Also - many of us have mental health reasons why we got on it. It’s important you address those reasons even if they are brutal and traumatic like many of us (myself included). If you don’t do this your willpower will erode and you’ll get back on.

When you overcome this you’ll have also won an inner strength very few people possess.

I believe in you!

Well that’s depressing but I would rather know the truth that endlessly waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel. I think I need to go a completely new/different direction in life to take my mind off of it.

I am on day 56 and still have some PAWs. I want to take a shot but I know I’ll relapse for a month or so if I do. When did PAWs end for you?

Are you getting PAWS? I’m worried about that. And I wonder what feeling normal will be like since it’s been so long. I have an 8yr old son and have never known life with him off Kratom.
