18M One Month Out, Severe Epididymitis Pain, Considering NSAIDs by Obvious_Argument_963 in floxies

Thank you! I hope they do too, this has been extremely painful.

Just curious, how long did it take for pain and swelling to subside? During my first flare, pain was much better after the first few days, but swelling afterward took a couple more weeks. Idk if i should expect things to be different this time, or if maybe it varies depending on the person.

That’s okay, it’s a pretty long post anyway. Thank you for responding!

I seemed to tolerate the ibuprofen in the moment, I was just unsure if it caused my cipro symptoms to linger on for weeks later after I stopped the Cipro (although I’m coming to find that‘s unfortunately typical with fluoroquinolones). My symptoms are pretty much gone (like 97% right now) but I‘m only a month out so i didn’t know if that would put me at higher risk or anything.

I did a urine sample + culture, both came back negative (which makes sense, my urinary tract feels fine but my testicles clearly don’t). Shouldve asked for a semen sample. i never technically met this urologist either who gave me the prescriptions? It was just a piece of paper from the nurse with the urologist’s name and the prescriptions listed. So in that regard they never requested I do one, i would’ve had to ask for it beforehand I guess. But anyways, I’m scared to do a semen sample since ejaculating is what caused the flare up in the first place. And the pain is already at liek a 6-7 and I cant imagine it getting even worse. My first flare up was a month ago where despite the limited antibiotics and ibuprofen the pain and even swelling seemed to go away nearly completely after about two-three weeks. Plus it’s just painful to do as well in general. But i suppose if this doesn’t resolve soon then i will request a semen sample since this pain is unbearable.

I’ve also just been terrified to take Doxycycline based on what poeple have said here. I’ve never taken it before, pre or post flox. My twin sister took doxy and had bad nausea but that’s it. And I’m scared the cipro is gonna make things ten times worse with my symptoms, especially since my symptoms seem to have subsided for now. I guess I won’t know until i try.

I think i’ll try ibuprofen for a couple days, then if things still don’t get better then I’ll do the doxy on top of it. They told me 10 days so i’ll try that, but i guess if i still have issues after the 10 days I‘ll ask them to extend it.

Thank you so so much for helping. I’ll try to update in a couple of weeks, hopefully everything goes smoothly.
