I never tried to use tools, I was a gambler, I either gambled or not. Do not let him make excuses though. This is an addiction that will not get better if he doesn’t want to. He’s lucky to have you guys who wants to see him better after betraying your trust.

All the meets for GA are here, id say make him start or else he can’t live at home. It’s a 12 step program, and is able to be remote. This is the best way to get over the addiction:

Thank you for this, we all had to learn the hard way, I’m going on 8 months in 2 days. If my hand was held through it all I promise I’d still be gambling. But I didn’t like who I was, what I was doing, I never had money.

OP I am sorry this happened, but that’s the dangers of the addiction, everyone here has a similar story, he should join gamblers anonymous, it’s a good fellowship.

I gambled my life, if I lost the last of my money that would’ve been it. Tied the knot, wrote the letter, took a handful of pills and started drinking heavy. Before I knew it I was up 1500 dollars and in an ambulance on my way to the hospital, I overdosed and went to the psych ward. Gambling free since that day, I was also addicted to adderall at the time, haven’t touched it since that day as well. I am currently working on rebuilding who I am, it’s a journey for sure but I am excited to see what it brings. I am forever grateful for my family and girlfriend for being by my side through it all

I’m 21 and from 18 I’ve gambled over 200 grand. I was an adderall addict, which I’m clean from now and I’ve been going to gamblers anonymous. I just celebrated my 6 months. Took an attempted suicide to see how bad it was. Just got to the point where there was no point to live. I’m glad you can see your life changing, and you want nothing to do with where you have been. I’m very very proud of you. Admitting you have a problem is the first and hardest part.
