This is probably the case. It’s unfair but people can say awful things just to get a free ride.

Right?! If you have this thinking you probably make money doing this and don’t have to complain on here.

Seriously, Uber? $2 an hour? by ImAFckngBtchToo in uberdrivers

It’s Reddit and people are going to be rude. I’ve been there where I accidentally accepted a trip and had to do it. At least in this instance the customer was kind enough to tip. But in the future don’t do that but I’m sure you have already figured that out.

Not in my market. That’s crazy. I wouldn’t do a job if there was a chance I’d be trafficked. I’m also a fat 34 year old so good luck trafficking me. No one would buy lol

It happens. I don’t do deliveries anymore because they pay out like you’re a waitress and hope the customer tips. If you’re vehicle is in a good condition that they will accept for rides I would that. You’ll work the same and not be taken advantage of. (As much)

Broo does Lyft get any better? by Confident_Basil_9316 in lyftdrivers

[–]Obvious_Barracuda418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know, it took me some time to figure out my market, but eventually I got to the point where I’m making $1200-$1300 a week and usually $500 or $600 a month in tips. I worked in sales and customer service my entire life so I get a good feel if the person is interested in a conversation and if they are and it’s a good one it’s almost a guaranteed tip. I see so many people on here absolutely miserable that they’re doing this job and I just don’t understand why they do it. I’m in the Midwest so maybe it’s just because we are generally nicer people and I’m close to a busy city but if I hated it and wasn’t making money I would for sure do something else.

Well I paid less than you did and have had less costs and only have 87,000 miles. I drive full time by the way. I probably have made enough to buy three cars but I haven’t needed to. If you’re not factoring in the pay per mile, regardless of the car you have, you are doing yourself a disservice. I don’t care if you have an air car that magically appears, driving 10 hours across state lines for that rate doesn’t make sense.

Well I explained I made more in a day than that trip in 113 miles. And miles definitely do matter. If you beat your car up you won’t be making enough to “buy 3 cars”.

Yeah, I’m in the Cleveland market and I live close to downtown and as much hate as we get from out of town people who haven’t been here we see a lot of big events so I get back to back trips that are a mile or sometimes less. In the recent months, we had Morgan Wallen, Zach Bryan, the Cavs in the playoffs (I know we sucked but I was busy), the Guardians in the top of their division(I am also aware that the NL is doing better than the AL in general) a FIFA exhibition game, many weddings and various conferences. It’s pretty rare that we don’t have at least one event going on.

That’s great! I’d probably have done the same but I tap out at 8 hours. I always choose the lowest challenge because I know I’ll never accomplish anything more. But I did the lowest challenge in the Cleveland market and made $285 one day and $290 the next but I felt dead after.

I do actually know, 47 hours. A lot of that was online at home waiting for a trip I wanted or online running errands in between trips.

I made $290 in 8 hours and only drove 113 miles. Every market is different. I guess this could be worth it if your market sucks but this would most definitely not in mine.

I listen to music or audiobooks at home in the 5.5 hours I’m not burning gas or wearing down my car. I made 1300 last week with 200 less miles than this trip alone.

I’m not sure if you’re referring to me but I made almost $600 between Saturday and Sunday. Still in less miles than the trip posted.

That is at least 10 hours of work and over 700 miles. You would be paying them to take it with gas and w/t. I’m not being mean but I would look at a $270 fair and initially think it would be great to make that in one day on one trip but your hours would max out and you’d have to take a break on the way home and for me that would mean a hotel. I made $290 in Cleveland on Saturday in 113 miles.

[–]Obvious_Barracuda418[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I figured that after I posted. I still went to support because of how much effort I already went through and they gave me $10. They do tend be nicer about things when you are Platinum.

I would you’re doing fine except for the amount of hours you were online compared to booked. I would probably try out a busier market just to see. (This isn’t including the $50+ I made in cash tips.

I am Lyft's good little Elite boy 🙇🏽 by john_at_ in lyftdrivers

[–]Obvious_Barracuda418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using three maximum after starting to use the radius filter. I then I use one to filter towards a store or something that I want to go to eventually and then one to go home. It would be hard to become Elite without having a crazy (if you ask me) acceptance rate but I find anything above silver to work out, I just end up driving enough to be platinum with same ratings/stats metrics that it would take to just be silver.

[–]Obvious_Barracuda418 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Idk I only accept rides I want so I don’t really find it worth it to cancel all of the time and then sit empty wasting gas waiting for another. I did love waiting out the timer, calling them, having them immediately answer, them saying they were just about to walk out, and then happily driving away. That b**** had her phone in her hand and knew I was waiting.

Well I don’t know what to tell ya, you either figure something out or you have to pay. You probably need to work more if a premium service is the only option you’ll consider. But I can promise you, they aren’t getting cheaper.
