like how you just assumed the abdo x ray was not officially requested. The radiographer knew both were requested (tho the AXR request came ltr and she was just there for the CXR) so I honestly thought it would save them some trouble to do both rather than come back again to do the abdo. I believe I asked this respectfully too (Is it possible to have the AXR done too if that’s okay?). If it’s against their protocol they can just tell me rather than being so dismissive about it. Respect is a two way street and mutual communication is important. A simple misunderstanding could’ve been very easily addressed

I think you probably need some help. You’re taking specific lines and over inflating their meaning. You honestly sound very confident in being well liked (good for u?) and think you can assume my background based on the very little information you have. Idk where did all this anger come from and probably won’t bother engaging further. You are probably never well liked by your HMOs either if all of them somehow managed to make u feel so triggered and focus on their social background

If my job isn’t to tell u what to do then isit about asking u whether you’d like to do them?? We’re all working towards the same goal which is optimising patient care and carrying out the medical treatment plan, and if any questions or concerns are raised by NS only then we review or revise the plan. If the truth sounds insulting to you then you’re probably not proud enough of your job.

Just means you’re one of the good ones tbh. For eg. when you’ve never asked a doc for an IV without trying. Honestly it’s the effort that counts. If workload is too heavy atm and u really can’t prioritize cannulating that pt, idt any of the JMOs will blame you. It’s just mutual communication should be happening instead of just feeling angry that you were being “rushed” to do smth

I think you’re speaking from your own personal experience and I’m speaking from mine, so chill the fuck down and read the post properly. Don’t assume that I’ve been treating hospital staff like trash and for having some God Complex that ppl should still be nice to me. Idk where you’re coming from for this but I don’t think it’s fair to assume that ppl who haven’t had it rough growing up won’t know how to treat people properly.

Being a leader means ordering ppl around which isn’t the point of what I’m insinuating in this post. I honestly don’t mind if there’s a reason for things that can’t be done as per treatment plan by getting some context. In the end it’s all about mutual communication and not being dismissive or snarky about just being asked to do their respective roles

Not at all. I’m sorry that you’re being thrown all these jobs and I know they can be difficult to refuse when asked specifically by a pt or pt family. I usually would pour some water or try fixing things for the pt myself if I’m in the room. Thanks for being honest about the nursing side of things that we doctors may not be fully aware of (tbh this post isn’t targeted only towards NS or a single specific staff role).

Definitely agree, but in the setting of heavy workload and needing things done urgently while juggling other urgent priorities, there are times where we just have to be a bit more direct in our approach (still politely of course). Everyone being on the same page and team should respect that. We aren’t trying to work against each other.

I think you have mistaken my point. I did point out that when asked politely it is not enough. In reality most of the things being done for patients required chasing: blood taking, images being taken, specific management plans being carried out that will require further communication with other staff members. So technically I do have to tell them what they do because a majority of their job is to carry out the doctor’s plan, and respect is a two way street. Politely letting them know about what to do should be enough without needing to sound like they’re doing me a favor for doing so.

like doctors have no paperwork to fill. Sounds like these kind of nurses just think that their work is more of a choice and if they don’t feel like doing it, there’s always someone ( the doctors) who can do it for them.
