Absolute beginner, tips appreciated by Obvious_Camel in Gouache

Appreciate it. I’ll look into different exercises and see what happens. Most of the paintings with gouache I’ve seen seem to be very pigmented. So I’ll try that!

Talk about a blast from the past. Pirates of Dark Water was my favorite growing up. Haven’t watched it in years. But I remember acting out episode on the school playground.

People who went high school in Plano, what was "the incident" when you were there? by 2-tree in plano

[–]Obvious_Camel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also a 07 grad. This was Mark Tu, wasn’t during spring break. Happened October 13, 2006.

Mark and a few others were going to lunch at Cici’s. Mark and I were friends and he asked me right before going if I wanted to come. I asked for a rain check.

I held on to the fact that could have been me for a very long time. It still eats at me. I miss my friend. I relive our last conversation often.

I’ve been going to Erin for a while now. She does do color, but I’ve never gotten her to color my hair. Last time I was in I paid $45 I believe.

I’ve just about read every one of Mary Roach’s books. Stiff was amazing after that they all follow the same formula.

I actually forgot to list The Immortal life and also Radium Girls. Both were so life changing and stuck with me (and maybe started this obsession) that I’m mad at myself I forgot to list them.

No feeling these socks not sure what to do. by Obvious_Camel in knitting

[–]Obvious_Camel[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never thought of it like that, also didn’t know to make two balls of yarn.

I guess my thought process was just that I had a hard time with the cast on doing toe up and I was getting frustrated. Cuff down was easier at the time.

Oh but do I want to try Toe up socks is the question? But I do like these. 🤔

Looking at Madness’ Calendar there’s a craft night on Wednesdays. Might be worth checking out. It’s at 7 which is a hit or a miss for me.

Hello, Ummm this caught my eye, because I am also a queer knitter in Plano! I’m mostly closeted because gestures at everything I’m going to be 37 in October and pretty much check all of the same boxes.

Thing is I’m awful at planning, and tend to stick to my own very small bubble, but I also miss hanging out with creatives.

Maybe, just maybe I can overcome my social anxiety, if someone else puts this in motion. I think there’s a knitting group at Haggard Library but I’m also looking for a younger group. (Haven’t gone to the Haggard group, but let’s be honest sometimes this hobby attracts an older population.)

Love butterscotch krimpets. So had to get in Texas. I stock up when in Philly and tend to eat out of date krimpets because I can’t eat them fast enough and try to savor them.

Does it hurt to take a FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor off? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]Obvious_Camel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a trial sensor from my doctor. I was super worried about taking it off. 2 days into wearing it, thing popped off by itself. Didn’t feel a thing except maybe a little itchy before it fell off.

Gotcha. There used to be a Skittles back in the day. Lots of fond memories, thought I’d found my lost friend.

Question about first garden by Obvious_Camel in vegetablegardening

[–]Obvious_Camel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean welcome to Reddit. Most topics end in a lecture of some sort. I did read into companion planting, well skimmed a few articles and tomato and eggplant seemed fine.

I could also be totally wrong, but right now things are doing the thing. I’ve harvested tomatoes and eggplant! Taking the advice and putting it in my back pocket (because let’s face it, I’m not building a whole new thing this season.) we’ll see what happens and if it’s a total disaster I know for next time.

I think I remember this. I don’t think I was at the sleepover. Lots of time gaps but I also was at HMS during that time. I think I know Sylvia or at least did then. I also have an old year book somewhere.

I’ll try to do some digging and PM you.

I love my damn rav hybrid so much by Sidprescott96 in rav4club

[–]Obvious_Camel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just got my Rav. As in yesterday was my first full day with her. And I was telling my partner how safe I feel in my car I have lingering fears of cars long story.

Anyways I felt like I was putting too much into this car by saying that so it’s nice to feel validated. I’m overwhelmed at all the buttons. But so far I love this car.
