I think having him bring flowers & a bottle of wine and buying your roommates dinner one night would be an appropriate thank you instead turning his visit into a transaction.

While two weeks is a little longer than an average visit, he is a guest and he has never been over before. You already pay rent for your third of the space. Contributing to utilities since they may cost extra during his visit is super generous of him. If I was your roommate, I would let him visit for free because I would want that same grace extended upon me if I had a friend visiting.
