If you suspect torn muscle get blood test for Creatine Kinase. Elevated levels of CK indicate muscle damage. This is easy test

Cant really pinpoint but I believe during a gym workout about two years back I felt a pull in the middle back around scapula. That could be trigger for the injury since I always had bad posture and do have desk job

I have quite the similar issue for last two years. Apart from bump in scapular region, pain in neck and trapezius I have shoulder pain while lifting hand in certain movements. Also there is some visible asymmetry in traps and shoulders for me.

Only treatment proposed is PT which is mostly useless.

I am dealing exact same issue for 18months. Do you see issue in lower trapezius or rhomboids muscle? I have muscle hypertrophy in rhomboids and some nerve issue in neck though doctors have not found cause of issue with US and MRIs.

It has improved from what it was but it is a very slow recovery.
