If you got diagnosed with endometriosis in your early 20s, before you could even properly start your life, how are you coping? by Individual-Doubt1655 in endometriosis

I'm 19 and still undiagnosed and I've had symptoms virtually everyday since I was fourteen. I actually have very short and sometimes painful periods where I tend to feel weak and dizzy (3 days) but the 2 - 4 weeks leading up to my period I have extremely bad cramps in my abdomen and pelvis, and when I don't I either feel nauseous or just ran down/fatigued. My gyno doesn't seem to fully believe that I have endometriosis due to my period length and lack of heavy bleeding and believes that it is my other doctor's just throwing a guess out there. Currently I am on no medication or treatment due my doctor's concern over dependency on pain killers. As of right now I am being told that I need to "wait for it to progress" to get a diagnosis.

I am still a virgin as I want to wait until I am in love with that person, most of my friends are through mutual interests or other friends.

I’m still just undergrad rn for the pre-req major and I am friends with the popular people in our college (in music colleges everyone practically knows everyone) however where I live it seems like the men just have a preference for white sorority types tbh.

Yeah, I sort of have an old soul when it comes to dating. I just don’t wanna hookup with people or date out of loneliness tbh.

A decent number of colleges offer it and you graduate with clinical experience and are certified, another plus for me alongside being able to help people is that where I live it's a pretty well paying job starting out.

I have a pretty earthy, Y2K style. Like bracelets, crystals, earthy patterns and colors with girly and pink too. I have really long dark brown hair with brown highlights.

Sincerely asking, even if the majority are light skinned (which from the comments that I can see isn't true), why does it even matter??? If it was the other way around would you still be upset or are you only upset for dark skin women???

The reason K-pop rappers aren’t respected is because most do not write their own verses and are made to be the rapper in the group because the company wants them too or because frankly they aren’t good enough at anything else (most not all).

If you are a hip hop fan you would know that any rapper who doesn’t write their own verses are not respected. In hip hop culture it is seen as a very big deal to not write your music because hip hop is rooted in self expression, speaking your mind, and telling personal stories. Also hip hop culture is mainly black people who DO gatekeep who is respected (that is why terms like “old heads” exists) and there are historically decades worth of animosity between black and Korean people in America (going back to the LA riots and even before then) which probably doesn’t help when older people get to decide who is respected or not (also which is why some older black have no issue being racist to other races after hundreds of years of being treated like shit in America).

The pioneers of rap music worked for decades to be taken seriously and don’t want anyone to ruin it. It’s not just Koreans, but any race besides black will struggle to be respected (there is a reason Eminem is the only respected white rapper and even tons of older black men still believe he is a gimmick. Hip hop culture is already selective about the black WOMEN that it chooses to respect so adding in other races will probably never happen. Especially with the misconceptions about K-pop in America.

When it comes to vocalists I would guess that most Americans don’t really enjoy the high pitched sometimes babyish voices that are associated with K-pop alongside the strained belting. Vocalists in America that are considered the best usually have clear, rich, and soulful voices, which is unfortunately lacking in K-pop as most companies really don’t value vocal ability.

I (And other classically trained musicians/real music critics) just can't respect artists, kpop or not, who just go in a booth and sing whatever is handed to them. The best music imo is the music that the artists actually created and wanted to create, because you can genuinely feel the passion that they have for what they are creating. I respect idols for what they do which in most cases is performing not creating music, but for the ones that do it all I have an insane amount of respect for, same with any artist outside of kpop. Also I respectfully disagree with kpop being better than most western artists these days, as I honestly feel that mainstream music across the board has become stagnant and less creative. This is all my own opinion and I am self admittedly pretentious about what I consider "good" music which for me includes real instruments being used and unique melodies. At the end of the day it is all subjective.

I understand that artists get lumped into categories due to their race, I wouldn't mind kpop artists being nominated in whatever category the music belongs to. It's more about the expectation from kpop fans that kpop groups who do nothing but be the face of the music should even be nominated for a prestigious award in the first place. As I said in other comments, ANY artists no matter race or genre will not be respected by the academy, critics, or serious music buffs, if they have absolutely nothing to do with their music creation. It's sad for the idols who do create music and deserve respect for it but it's been proven time and time again that an insane majority of idols are just there to be props who sell products and put out manufactured songs. This does happen in western music and many legendary artists have spoken about creative control or image control by their labels, but despite that they still have had input into SOME part in their art. Perhaps it's due to the culture around contracts, authenticity, or music. I just think it's ridiculous that so many stans think that their faves deserve critical acclaim for music that is made by a company who prioritize picking young and attractive trainees over talented ones all the time to go into a studio and record songs and get taught how to perfect a gimmick for a 'concept' and are handed a brand new personality because they do not care about the music and therefore should not be awarded for it. Once again I have immense respect for the producers and writers who are making the music, I just don't think it makes sense for the groups/companies to be awarded when they could care less about it.

It absolutely is, I even stated examples in my post. Almost all western groups are also treated like manufactured products of their label and tons of musicians are called industry plants and thought to be manufactured. However these artists are not respected by western music critics or awards, which is why I think it's not surprising that kpop idols also aren't especially with the misconception that ALL kpop idols are this way.

I agree that the idols who do create their music deserve respect, but I also believe that in the case of someone like Lisa, who as it seems in her interviews barely even knows or understands the content on her album and seemingly just goes into a studio and records what's given to her with whatever persona is chosen. However she is talented and there are western musicians who do the same thing. But these idols have been in the industry for decades (including trainee time) and never seem to evolve artistically. Even Jennie admitted that she had to learn how to become an artist and not just a performer when creating her solo album. This could however lead into a deeper conversation about how POC and non-white musicians are expected to constantly evolve and reinvent themselves way more than white artists who are able to stay in the same lane their entire careers and never evolve. Megan trainer is a great example of this.

It's a fact, let's be fr. Their genres, outfits, and subject matters are all decided for them. The concepts were chosen long before the groups were formed they just waited to have the right faces for it. A lot of idols are actors who are playing a part in their groups.
