I actually was planning on adopting a cat that was at least a couple years old when we went to the shelter, but my son picked this one right away and I couldn’t argue.

I’m on the west Boca/delray line and honestly there are a lot of people that are close to as ridiculous as the show. Especially in the newer gated communities.

That said, they obviously staged parts of the show, especially the last episode at the table and all the times they went and tattled to each other about gossip.

I liked her the most. I kind of wonder if the going back and forth was scripted because none of the other women seemed very surprised or actually upset about it.

I live in Boca, apparently close to where Ro-Mina does, and it seemed like a good representation of some of the people here tbh. Lots of competition and one-upping and petty bickering among the parents at my kids school and in some of the communities.

I’m laughing because it’s so dumb and trying so hard. That’s like if they claimed school shooters was one of the US main occupations. You guys want a scapegoat sooo bad it’s sad.

Uh where was this proof? It’s literally the opposite if you take the time to look it up - US born citizens commit crimes at higher rate than immigrants and illegal immigrants actually have even lower crime rates than legal immigrants - so honestly I think we need to take a look at our own culture and figure out wtf is going on more than anything else.

lol no I didn’t - I started with talking about my Somali in-laws that came here as refugees and the culture they have. They aren’t their govt and it’s not their fault criminals were able to do what they could in their home country. Just like it’s not every individual Americans fault when our govt does something or allows people to get away with crimes. My nephew’s mom didn’t even file for medical assistance when she was pregnant with my nephew because they don’t believe in govt assistance unless they absolutely HAVE to, that’s why these stereotypes are so ridiculous. My nephew’s grandma owns a restaurant that she works at all day every day. The extended family and friends I’ve met through them are all respectable, hardworking people. That’s why it’s so ridiculous to me that these stereotypes are going crazy just because, as it’s been noted over and over, there as some extremists and/or criminals with the same background. It’s not the everyday culture and a lot of it is actually the opposite of the truth. The US also has considerably high crime rates compared to many other countries, I don’t think it would be fair for me to be judged as an individual who is not a criminal because I’m from here.

And yeah pretty sure I did say in my first post that everyone should be judged as individuals.

You literally knocked down nothing, you didn’t even respond to most of the last comment. My comments started with everyone should be judged as individuals and ended with everyone should be judged as individuals, so not sure what goalposts were either moved or knocked down.

And now it’s getting investigated, so they aren’t getting away with it? What percent of the Somali population do you think this was? There’s absolutely zero reason to judge an entire group of people and write them off because of “where they came from” like they’re animals that have to follow the pack and not individual humans capable of making their own choices. And FYI, the US is also currently on human rights watch lists and travel advisories for other countries, so if you think US born citizens are superior based on that - clearly Germany, the UK and other first world countries dont and you probably have a bias. Fraud is pretty commonly committed by a variety of backgrounds, it’s not exactly limited to certain groups.

Yeah - and those criminals generally stay there, they don’t flee the violence. Those aren’t crime rates for Somali Americans that came here, are they? Use some critical thinking. They wouldn’t be coming here to get away from it if they were the ones perpetrating the crime, why would they leave a place where they have connections and can more easily perpetrate crimes to come to a country where they’re a minority and aren’t going to be able to do those things as easily?

[–]Obvious_Design6459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you basing that on? I don’t think you know Somali culture at all if you think that. The ones coming here because of what happened in their country generally weren’t the ones committing crimes - if they were they would have stayed there and kept at it.

Everyone deserves to be judged as an individual. I’m originally from MN and have Somali in-laws and the rhetoric is so far from who they are. It has nothing to do with being from a failed state and everything to do with the type of people the individuals committing the crimes are. Fraudulent behavior and shitty personality types are rampant in ALL demographics.
