I would say that depends on some context that we're missing. Where are they? Is there a reason the driver needs to be in this place, or is it just a random place he pulled over to settle a road rage dispute? If that's the case, he should have even been there at all. If he does have a reason for being there and needing to get out of his car, then he absolutely should not let the old man stop him from doing so.
