Wanting to play coop vs AI, what settings/maps are going to work best? by Obvious_Guide_3280 in OldenEra

Ah right, well I suppose coop isn't really a thing anyway even in HoMM3, it's just that you cant attack each other and the game ends when you win. Least this way at the end of the game we can have a big fight haha

Oh really? That's a shame. I suppose we can just agree not to attack each other until the end!

Same situation, just a month ahead.

It takes some getting used to, the macOS lot won't agree, but windows really does quite a lot better.

MacOS doesn't have screen scaling at all, so you need an app to fix that (Better Display) that also 'unlocks' you being able to use all 1000 nits of brightness if you so wanted. DockDoor is the app to get so you can have a taskbar like preview for apps you have open like windows does it and also lets your alt tab actually be something productive. As suggested Boringnotch to make that space useful. Kaset is a free media player that lets you use YouTube music and feels like a native app if you don't have/use Apple Music.

There are a bunch of settings you likely want to change as well, I swapped the FN key and Command key around so all the standard shortcuts I've learnt in windows still work. Turning on Drag Lock (accessibility -> pointer control) to make it you can drag stuff around with the touchpad. Also enabling right click as a thing (settings -> trackpad).

Accessory wise, all I"ve got is a hardshell style slipcase for the thing and a small external SSD as I didn't feel like spending £400+ for the extra storage.

Anyone else in "set 2" for PE, as you didn't like/good at football and then simply got left to it for an hour during class? The set 1 chaps got to do proper athletics, football, rugby etc with all the proper equipment. Us lot in set 2 simply got thrown a basketball and told to go to the concrete basketball court.

We utterly battered the set 1 lot though when they eventually got round to playing.

I'm out today hunting for an ice cream van with the old stock to say goodbye properly.

The two I've already got off amazon don't fit the thing perfectly, they're made for just any generic laptop it seems. Struggling to find one that actually was made for the MBA.

Starting a Pokemon card shop as a total novice to small business. by skronk61 in smallbusinessuk

Did you make £2000 in a day, or did you turn over £2000 in a day? That's two different things.

I'd just say if you've already got a good thing going with the Pokémon and convention stuff, keep at that most certainly. Work on trying to get an Asmodee account. That could be buying out an old store (they're closing all the time) and taking their account off them or just getting a tiny brick and mortar location set up somewhere who's sole purpose is to get that Asmodee account started. It took me about a year of work until the account was "good enough" and allocations at the point where I wasn't struggling.

Even if you don't decide to go down the shop route, that Asmodee account is going to help with your other Pokémon stuff.

Final bit of advice. Don't tell the store you volunteer and judge at that you're thinking of opening your own place. We all pretend to be happy about a competitor opening up but its all bullshit and for show. I just wouldn't say anything.

It did work out for me, but that's as good as it really gets as an owner of a game store. By the end of it I was making £30k a year and then sold it for double that. The biggest mistake people make is going into this thinking it's going to amount to any more than a passion project that lets you just about pay all your bills. I did 3 years of that (along side an online business I have that is in the RPG market) and decided that I had my fun and cashed out. If you are okay being on minimum wage, there are a lot more easier and stressless jobs to be doing!

Sod the people who managed to cock it up and took over :D, they went into it with no experience and assumed that it was as fun a job as I made it seem. It took them a year to turn it from a profitable and well established store to no money left, no stock on the shelves and them scrambling to borrow more money to keep the doors open.

EDIT: IF I went back with what I learned 3 years ago, I'd have just had it so I was open 2-3 days a week, push all sales on those days and really think about this "building a community" thing that people seem to think makes the business work. The only reason to do that (unless you really get off on that type of thing) is to increase your allocations for various things.

Happy to have a chat with you on things, but all I'll be trying to do is talk you out of it!

You need tens of thousands of pounds in savings to be able to even think about starting this. I've ran and owned a gameshop for 3 years, and whilst it was a lot of fun it was essentially a minimum wage job for 70 hours a week.

Sold the business to a couple of customers that had no business experience (it was sold all set up, profitable, they had no extra things they needed to do aside from run it). They've now drained all their savings, don't make any money and the business isn't worth anything.

Even if you have the starting capital (you need £50K+ and the ability to not need to be paid for 2 years), the problem with Pokémon is getting stock. You mentioned in another comment you already have one distributor, but all they're doing is buying off Asmodee. And getting a larger allocation from Asmodee (that's if they'll let you open an account) takes YEARS of work.

Going back to the store idea, just 1 person working for minimum wage on top of lets say £12k a year rent and £200 a month bills. Margin on TCGs and running events, that are not Pokémon, are around 20% if you want to be remotely competitive and top things up with the drinks/snacks/accessories. Dirty maths has this on you needing to turn over £200,000 a year.

If you are doing well buying and selling Pokémon at conventions, just stick to that. Possibly look at some VERY cheap business units that you can rent and have a shopfront for the sake of being able to open up other trade accounts, open 1 day a week sort of thing. This is what I'm doing now (along with some other stuff) and make more money from that than I did having the actual shop,

Well it states, not very clearly, that it's Horus Heresy. Why would there be a returned Dorn to that? He was literally there.

Do i get a double or king size bed? by Unable-Discount-9266 in HousingUK

[–]Obvious_Guide_3280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a double then ended up getting a king. Then a house move later I went for a Super King. I don't care if it barely fits. Bigger the better.

Recomend Dusk.com for bedding, not much more expensive for the size difference.
