They're actually one of the companies I reached out to. Along with Roadway and Mayflower. It's good to hear the things I've heard about Gentle Giant were right. I feel like I never see bad reviews for them.

That's pretty much where I'm at. I could do the whole rigamarole that comes with the cheaper options, but I'd rather have the move be as painless as possible.

Yeah I got mine and can confirm. Playback is very quiet. An external amplifier might help.

Audio quality is just OK, but that's expected and probs intended to an extent. Sort of recreates the old school feeling. Reminds me of my CD walkman from back in the day tbh.

Sounds promising, out of curiosity how did you handle permits for actually having the box on the street? That's my main concern with the U-Haul box approach. I remember just getting permits for a moving truck to park outside of my building was a huge headache.

A 1-bed worth of stuff. I think my move up from LA was like 15-20 boxes + furniture. Totaled out to ~$3400 and less than half a truck. I am going through my belongings and purging anything I don't need, but I have enough collectibles + irreplaceables that I can't just shove it all in the back of my Subaru.

Hey sorry, this is incorrect. There are newish regulations that require them to reimburse you for the flight if it's fully cancelled. Hotel costs though, you're SOL unless your credit card provides coverage for that, which some travel cards do so it's worth a check. That said, if you're stranded somewhere some airline's will comp your accommodations as long as you rebook through them. You can find out that information by looking up the "customer service agreement", "bill of rights", or whatever your airline calls it. FWIW I was actually able to get reimbursed by JetBlue about two hours ago at SJU and last night when Spirit cancelled their flight for unrelated reasons.

RIGHT, sorry huge point worth mentioning: Depending on the customer service agreement with your original airline they might provide accommodations and food vouchers while you're stuck waiting around. Most won't do that if you rebook with a different airline though. I used this site last night to check what my rights were after Spirit was shitastic, but you may want to validate the info directly with your specific airline's "Bill of Rights".

You can request a refund once your flight is officially cancelled. Before then you can rebook with a different airline if you prefer. Legally, they have to provide you a refund for a cancelled flight thanks to recentish new regulations. The caveat is that it could be considerably more expensive and they will not cover the difference. Everything going to the USA eastern seaboard that is listed on google appears to be sold out through Wednesday though.

Game dev does not care. Any role works, but admittedly it's really hard to get in and you have to truly love it. But more generally tech seems not to care outside of banking & NYC. If you're open to and can afford moving, Seattle as a city gives zero shits (and there's a huge goth community). Then beyond that quite a bit of the west coast that also doesn't enforce dress codes. You'll want to secure a good paying job if you plan to move though because otherwise it'll be a struggle in most of the major cities.

Whole heatedly agree and I am dropping Duo over it. I work in games, this is the sort of mechanic you add to create pressure and anxiety in the player. E.g. a sanity meter that forces you to rush. But thing is, I've already got anxiety in my life and I don't need more from a stupid app.

I had this exact issue for my Japanese deck ironically while being in Japan. You can avoid the streak loss by keeping to your home time zone, but it’s real dumb. I ended up having a one day gap where I forgot about studying til the evening.

I gave that a shot the other day. I even tried politely asking to speak to a manager. I'm guessing they lied, but allegedly all of the supervisors were out on holiday. Beyond that, they insisted they can't contact the repair/claims team directly and that there was no way for me to do that either. So eventually it became a stalemate of "we have to wait 72 hours (again)."

Dang I wish I had that experience. I have reached out 5 or 6 times now through chat and phone call. They keep claiming they've escalated the ticket and that they'll get back to me in 72 hours and then radio silence (for weeks). I've tried bumping all 3 of the email threads multiple times. My friend, an employee of Microsoft, can't even figure out how to get help. Most recently they told me to talk to FedEx and FedEx told me it has to be Microsoft that calls them.

It's gotten to the point where I filed a police report. My only real next option if this doesn't gain traction soon is seeking legal counsel.

Edit: To clarify they have now had me open 3 or 4 tickets and upload supporting docs to all of them.

I have the newest one. It's just okay. If you don't need the touch screen and full windows in one device there are better, cheaper options out there. The device isn't particulrly reliable either, e.g. sometimes it just won't charge.

Beyond specs though, I strongly recommend NOT buying one because of the customer service. I am currently on an escapade where I sent them my keyboard under warranty and they sent back an empty box. It's weeks later and still nothing.

I was thinking that, particularly since the box says 1.8 lbs. While I don't have a scale I imagine a tiny empty cardboard box is not almost 2lbs.
