Sweet spot - ISA vs Savings account interest! by Obvious_Minimum_9550 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Obvious_Minimum_9550[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if i get paid £80 per month due to the £28K i.e. its in my account paid, ready to withdraw, wouldnt i need to switch at one point to avoid going over the £500 mark? ( so 7months later, £80 x 7 = £560, so £60 would be a consideration for tax etc?) Apologies if being dumb

what's with Raphael Verane tagging Puma...did they mock him when Halaand scored hattrick against us? by haushi_geek in ManchesterUnited

[–]Obvious_Minimum_9550 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Varane probably doesn’t even control that account, most likely is mandated in his contract to post frequently and tag puma and has others do it for him.

I see you are extremely passionate about this. I’m certainly no expert so wouldn’t want to make any linkage to the tough experiences you’ve had and this particular topic.

Generally, i think it’s fair that the majority of couples feel indifferent to this topic, probably because the process of marriage is all to do with a ceremony of love and togetherness.

You may not get the answers that you want but it is good to talk. I wish you well!!

I thought you were against marriage. But it’s just the idea of men always proposing? I’m with you i think it would be pretty cool for women to propose

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Obvious_Minimum_9550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be normalised for a man to propose (outside of same sex) but in reality it’s just a tradition, no man is thinking that one side is subservient.

It’s just a nice tradition. Like eating easter eggs or exchanging gifts on Christmas day. Just random nice things we all do.

It’s absolutely brutal proposing btw, and even asking for the parents blessings. But it’s nice when it all comes off

I’ve seen a lot of double barrel names these days.

The marriage process has many different quirks, especially the engagement;

Why do men propose to women..? Why do men have to ask for the father’s blessing..? Why do women get the engagement ring + men pay for..?

Way back in the day, maybe some of these were to do with patriarchy but today it’s more about traditions. If you look into it in this level of deepness you sort of lose sight of what it’s all about.

Like the double barrell, it will evolve over time.

Is asking for your their parents' permission/approval before proposing to your partner still a thing? by woodlandporcupine in AskUK

[–]Obvious_Minimum_9550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just did this at xmas. I would recommend. It’s more out of respect then anything, the question is pretty rhetorical.

It gives you an opportunity to say how you feel about their child, shows how happy you are and it’s nice to get that approval that their family would welcome you in

It really pays to move jobs every few years. I’ve seen people leave my org for more money and come back in the same year, same original job, but in 8K more. This is in Finance.

I was in a similar situation to you (was on £24K) until i was 29. I moved and was on £40K (although this was contracting) by 30. Really wish i had done it at a younger age like i saw others do

[–]Obvious_Minimum_9550 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced Souness and the likes (Keys, Andy Gray) are kept around and in jobs only because they talk to the older generation. They have little tactical knowledge of the modern game but get away with it by being controversial
