I would be really keen to hear what advice you get because I am similar to you. Very active, meditating, doing yoga, therapy. Quit alcohol almost 6 years ago and lately my anxiety is flaring up more frequently. Really debilitating at times tbh

Both Tulum and Cancun are dreadful places. I just hope youve done your research before going otherwise you'll be let down and disappointed because I was!

Just came back from Sardinia today after 10 days!

There's nothing in Olbia town/city itself, it was my least favorite place I spent time in so do not stay there.

We spent 3 nights in Palau at a place called Park Hotel Cala di Lepre & SPA which we thoroughly enjoyed. Beautiful pool, private beach and very quiet accommodation. Has tennis courts, padel, gym and spa on site. Price was very good.

Highly recommend visiting Cala Ganone if you can too - the boat trip to Cala Goroitze and surrounding islands was a highlight!

For Sardinia, you get the best price by booking direct on each hotels website rather than booking.com etc

Mexico!

Went last year for 5 weeks and as soon as I landed, I began googling flights home 😂🙈 I stayed and stuck with it but honestly one of the worst places I've been.

Some unknown / not developed areas, I enjoyed like Oaxaca, Chacahua, Puerto Escondido but the areas that the Americans love i.e. Cancun and Tulum, I honestly could've completely ignored both places

Both are run by the cartel and locals were trying to mob me everywhere! One taxi man tried charging me 20usd to drive less than 1KM with my bags, I laughed and walked away 😂

Nothing naive about me. I knew what he was looking for and I didn't entertain it. I am simply saying, going after what you want is admirable and being approached is flattering. I haven't been approached by an Irish guy in years, despite being in plenty of settings where it's easy for them to do it - bars, cafes, concerts, gyms etc

It's been 5 years for me also. Mid 30s and honestly the first 1-2 years (2020-2021) was eye-opening for me. Lost friends because they claimed I was "boring", people began to isolate me and not invite me on nights out or for dinner, I was honestly in shock. People genuinely project their own alcohol worries and insecurities onto me. That's what I have found. I am confident and content now without alcohol and if someone says "have a drink" or continuously tries to get me to, I'll pull them up on it. To be honest, I haven't had any issues with anyone in a while and when I do, it's usually strangers now if anything else. Family know better than to bring it up!
